Do you have kids?

We stay at POP for many reasons. The first is, we want a Value resort. We only sleep and shower and sometimes swim at the hotel, so we don't want to spend a bunch of money when we will be at the parks the whole time.

Our kids love it. We looked at Moderates, and they didn't like the feel.

We like the bus system, one bus stop out front. We don't get on the bus and then have to stop at 6 other spots in the same resort to pick up/ drop off other people.

We love the food court. Not fancy food, but a good variety. Good prices, good choices, easy.

The kids can get around by themselves, all on foot. Easy to get to pools, food court, arcade, gift shop, bus.

Its a fun feel. It is Disney. If I wanted a fancy posh hotel, I would go somewhere fancy. I want Disney fun in everything. From the big statues, the music, the pools, the décor, I want it to be all Disney, and it is!!

These are all the reasons why we stay at POP. Lol I suggested this year that maybe we try POFQ however the look I received from DD squashed that plan immediately. Lol

Still at Pop. A couple of my notes/observations.

1. We do not like the new menu on the food court , so much so that we probably won't stay here again. Not our style and it is a struggle to find things to eat at lunch and dinner. We are kinda picky eaters.
2. A whole lot of tour groups here right bow including the dreaded Brazillans.
3. The RFID machines are installed at the food court but are not yet active. No word on when they'll start. My mom is staying at POR and they have not been installed there yet.

Is there someplace that shows you the room types (standard, preferred) on a map?

Also... If you are facing the lake how much of a pain is it to get your luggage from the parking lot to your room?

Did you eat at AoA? If so how far or how long is the walk? I've read they have a better food court.

There is a link to the POP map with room types and areas. It's on the first page in the first post. I'm mobile though so I can't link. You'll find it!

Thanks for the live update. Sorry to hear about the food. I hope you let them know how you feel.

We walked over there a couple weeks ago. Easy walk. Thought we would miss big crowds as we were there around 10:30. Food court was PACKED & CHAOTIC!!! However--we did enjoy the variety of options. Must have been at the end of breakfast as just after we sat down they were changing the menu boards. Glad we went. Walked around the resort. So many cute details & photo ops. Would have liked to try dinner but didn't make it back over.

Curious if you have a fridge or not?

Last night I got sprinkled with a little pixie dust. Twice kind of. First my TA upgraded me and my DD to a preferred room for our NOJ stay. Then DH has agreed to another May anniversary trip. Unfortunately by then our youngest will be three and we will be one too many for POP. So we are doing 2 family suites at AoA. Of course for my NOJ weekends I will always pick POP. Our May trip will also be our newest additions first trip to Disney. S/he is due the beginning of Nov. :) can't wait til sept to be back at POP.

What is so dreaded about the Brazilians? I have never been when they are there.

This is the first time my husband is staying at Pop and it's been a long time for me. We were going to stay at Port Orleans but my hours got cut at work (better than being fired! Lol) so we had to stay at pop. My husband is a little worried he won't like it. Were other people worried about staying there but ended up loving it? I just don't want him to be disappointed because it's our anniversary trip.

My husbands first trip to pop is this December. He seemed a little worried about it (he's a hotel snob) so I showed him some YouTube videos and now he won't upgrade to POR even if free dining happens.

That is a great idea! I'll see if I can get him interested that way. Thank you!

Ooo that's a good idea! Yeah, my boyfriend and I are kinda.worried we won't like it, so maybe we'll watch some YouTube videos! I think were just going to see how much money we save by the time of reserving..that will decide between pop and por..although I do want to have as much spendung money as possible....pop it is! Hahha

Daughter got a pin code for 25% off so booked our January trip. Happy to being going back to POP for our family trip and at a nice discount. :) Guess now that it is official I should add it to my signature.

Since AoA was originally supposed to be the second half of POP, may people thought they would act as sister resorts. However, that thought quickly disappeared once they gated the AoA pool.

So the current AoA resort is made up of buildings that were intended for POP? So they built them, but never used them until AoA? I've seen pics of the abandoned buildings, and wondered about them.

The LM section is what had been abandoned. They were supposed to be part of "The Legendary Years" of POP. The current POP is "The Classic Years". Disney decided to halt construction and later came up with the AoA suites instead. :goodvibes

Has the menu changed since December 2012? That is the most recent menu allears shows. We plan on eating frequently in the POP food court.
