Thanks for the tip--going in July and worried about the room staying comfortable.

btw--Got a great chuckle out of your signature line. Thanks for the giggle this morning! :rotfl:

You are welcome...if only the quote weren't so true :rolleyes1

Ceiling fans?

I will really miss our ceiling fan when we stay at Pop in June. On our previous visit to Pop in June 2010 I had a hard time sleeping without my fan.

I am thinking of bringing a small fan, anyone have a recommendation? It needs to be inexpensive but easy to pack in the van for the road trip. And big enough to move the air in the room.

I bring a cheap one from Walmart I think it is a dorm one. I think it was 10.00. I sleep at home with a fan on.

Building 1 in the 50's sounds like a good choice for you -- the building itself has sides facing the parking lot, yet no matter where you are the Bowling Pool is convenient. Building 2 in 50's has similar characteristics, except that building 1 is closer to Classic Hall than building 2.

Parking lot and pool proximity can also be said for all three buildings in the 80's/90's section. I like building 1 in 50's anyway even without having a car, so I suggest it first.

Thank you for your speedy response!! Building 1 in the 50's is sounding perfect for us.. Many thanks :-)

Hi all, I am here at POP now, and would be happy to answer any questions any of you may have about the resort, especially regarding the new food options at Everything Pop.
My party of 2 arrived around noon today, and our room was ready! Our request for a king bed was met, and we have a pretty nice view of the computer pool from our room in building 8 second floor. Busses are just a short walk across the parking lot, so we are pretty happy! I also met some really great cast members in the gift shop who had me sign THEIR autograph book! Oh, and we came across a cute little bunny rabbit sitting in the grass when walking up the stairs to our room. I have a rabbit at home so this made me happy to see :)

RapunzelsBFF...:wave2: Thanks for checking in and it's great to hear your requests were met! Agree with you on the wonderful CMs...we met several last August.. they are super friendly and go out of their way to help. If you have a chance, give us your opinion on the food choices that you try. TIA!

BTW, I love early morning at POP and walking the grounds... and have seen bunnies too. :). Usually make my way to the food court (for my daily chocolate croissiant) and encounter the CMs out washing down the pavement and wiping down the chairs... they always have a cheery hello for you.

Have fun!!
Hi POP lovers!!!! I'm so excited to be actually MOVING TO FLORIDA 1 month from tomorrow and driving a 16' Penske rental truck down to Naples. I'm stopping OF COURSE at Disney and staying at POP Sunday and Monday night before continuing on to my new home!!! My question for you all is, will I be able to drive in and park it then check in? I've only stayed at POP once and used DME, so I have no idea the configuration of the parking lots. TIA for any help!!! Can't wait!!!! :goodvibes

:yay: Good luck on your move to FL and have fun on you mini vacation at POP. :hippie: Yes, there is a guest parking area near the main lobby entrance. Check in, get your room assignment (and hopefully your room is ready)... then follow the signs to the parking area for your bldg. :goodvibes Inform the CM that you have a car and you will be given a parking permit for the length of your stay (believe you have to supply the license plate no.).

Have fun! Oh, to be a Florida resident with those great deals on APs!! You are sure to love it! :cool1:

We decided to book a trip and stay at Pop over CBR and I think it was a great decision! Our friends loved Pop and we are so excited to head back to Disney on free dining for our son's birthday. It's a total surprise for him, we all love Disney.

Yea! Going to read the thread!

:yay: Welcome to the POP FAQ thread :hippie: CBR and POP are different and hopefully you will like all the unique aspects to POP. :goodvibes

Congrats on the FD :thumbsup2 Sure this will be a great birthday for your son. :goodvibes

We're doing a split stay! July 9-14th at CSR (for a conference) & the 15-17th at POP! I"m so excited!!! :)

:woohoo: Splits are a fantastic way to get two vacations in one... a win/win. Enjoy!

I agree with jcarwash. I just stayed in bldg 1 last week (ground floor pool view..have stayed in this bldg before same place) and enjoyed it again! It is very convenient to a pool (but it was NEVER noisy. Even last time when I stayed there and that was a very busy time!) And to the food court for my refillable mug, and to the buses (I won't drive to MK), and to the parking lot for when we used DD's car. So I really like it. But bldg 3 wasn't that bad either if you happen to get that one.
Or if they put you in bldg 4 or 5 in the 60's, Just park out front (not in the check in area!) and cut straight thru Classic Hall. Easy Peasy!!

Last year for the conference we were offsite at the Marriott. And stayed for 2 days before and 2 days after at POP. Both previous WDW trips we stayed at Movies, I prefer POP I think!!

:) :thumbsup2 How super exciting!! Give a full report when you get back and enjoy!!
Does anyone know the drink station selections? I know it is coke products. Do they have cherry coke?

Just got home last night. Pop does have cherry coke on one of the drink stations but in the 12 days that we were there, we only found it to be in use just one time. Every other time, that one was closed up. I was always trying to get some too.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere yet but we just got home last night from 12 days at Pop and we did share a bus with Art of Animation on 2 occasions.

The first time was early in our trip and I forget now where we were headed. But the second time was yesterday morning as we were heading to the MK at about 8:30 am.

We did notice that every time, AoA had much larger crowds at their bus stops than Pop (kind of glad that we weren't able to switch to a LM room after all). At closing this week, there would be multiple MEARS buses picking up AoA guests from the MK.

Thank you, Janet B! I'm so excited!!! DH has been down there since January and I visited in Feb and April and the very FIRST thing I did was to get my Florida drivers' license so I could get my resident AP! Made me ridiculously happy! It's going to be quite an adventure getting down there with that Penske truck! LOL! :lmao: I will definitely enjoy a few days of Disney fun before my last leg of the trip!

The problem is the motion sensors. They don't detect motion at night and turn off the AC.

To fix it: On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. This typically only works for 24 hours and then resets itself, so you need to do this daily.

Thanks for the tip! I printed it out to take with me! :yay:

I posted on a separate thread about me leaving my anniversary ring in the safe at Pop:scared::sad1:. Thought I would give an update:

I called and talked to someone at lost and found who was less than helpful. She indicated that I must be mistaken and not left it in the safe as the maid didn't see it when cleaning the room (I had checked the safe even before leaving, so I can see how she wouldn't have seen it). I pressed further and insisted and she said that the room was already occupied and they would have to wait to look for my ring.

I wasn't satisfied with that response so I manged, after being on hold several times, to talk to someone who actually was located at Pop. I couldn't talk to the manager, but the person I talked to said she would pass along the message. Later that night (11 pm) she left me a message (do not disturb on my iPhone) saying she found my ring and I could call back and she gave me a different phone number. In the morning I talked to a different manager who confirmed they had my ring and it was in the safe at lost and found for Pop - the only issue I had here, was that they said I was in a different room. After I got off the phone, I confirmed my room number with my travel documents and I was right.

Took a few days of playing phone tag with lost and found for Pop. They don't answer the phone all the time and my cell phone doesn't work at work (I work next to radiation equipment at a hospital, lead and phone signals don't work). Finally got a hold of them and they UPS'ed my ring back and I got it on Tuesday:cool1::yay:.

Yesterday I got a post card from lost and found saying that they could not find my lost object, but they would continue to look:rolleyes1.

Anyway, if you were staying in 3169 and you let someone in the room to check the safe - THANK YOU!!!!

Re: fan

Pop has a good supply of box fans you can request, too, if you don't bring your own.

82 or so days!! I cannot wait to be there, checking in. So my favorite place!

I'm so glad I read the Dis! We love our ceiling fan, so this is good to know. Our kids even sleep with white noise!

In their defense though, they do have a tremendous amount of staff and sometimes things?situations can go in more than one direction...and when I checked on this for you at the actual hotel front desk, your reservation was noted that it was found and sent... So they were really trying very hard to reunite you with your item. :thumbsup2 POP isn't perfect, but I do think that they really try to do the best they can! Keep in mind this is the largest hotel on Disney property...2,880 rooms! When it was built 10 years ago, POP was the 10th largest hotel in the US, and the 27th largest in the world!!

That's awesome! We sleep with a fan too but I really didn't feel like packing one. How do you go about getting one for your room?

Thanks! I wish I had asked the last time we were there. I had a hard time sleeping.

No, I think they did great helping me out! I have nothing but great things to say about staying there and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I just found some weird humor in the postcard saying they couldn't find my ring after I had already gotten it back....

My aunt & I leave a wk from tomorrow for 4 nights at Pop for 5/26-5/30! My aunts 60 & has never been to Disney let alone FL! We watched the Disney planning DVD last wk on mothers day & she's even more excited. I can't wait to go! I'm also hoping to book a bounce back for DH & I for the fall for F&W (we've never been!). My aunts so funny, when I started talking about the parks she said "we get to go to the parks too??". Then when I talked about rides she said "now you have pay for the rides?". When I said it included she said "well we got a great deal then!". We also have the reg dining plan. Our plans:

Sun: Check in, hopefully rooms ready, our plan arrives around 11a, then off to AK & have a CS lunch, then DTD for dinner at TS Wolfgang Puck ( I thought 2 places would be a lot of 60 yr old aunt, but she's gung ho to go to both 1st day)

Mon: DHS, CS lunch- not sure where, TS dinner Mama Melrose. I can't wait for her to see Fantasmic!

Tue: Epcot, CS lunch-not sure where, TS Biergarten dinner

Wed: MK, hopefully CS lunch at BOG (hope to get in line early), TS dinner at Ohana (I've never been, so excited to go-DH very jealous because we've never been able to get in)

Thur: back home :furious:

I've found getting up early works best & then going back to hotel after lunch for a little break & a swim, then back to parks for dinner- aunt seems open to this (when we went to Vegas last yr we got up early every day, had breakfast & hit the pool right when it opened to get good pool chairs, lol. So I know she doesn't mind getting up early on vacation) I keeping telling myself that we can't do it all, but I still want too!

I also can't wait to FINALLY tell my boys! We have been keeping it a secret from them, and I have been bursting to tell them.

They are 7 and 4 and will flip out! I think I'm going to give ODS a suitcase and tell him to open it up and then have a sign in there that says "Get packed.. we are going to Disney World Tomorrow!"

I have to disagree with telling them we are going "tomorrow". Although our girls 9 & 11 at the time knew they'd be going to DW they did not know when. We told them the morning we were leaving because we felt that if we told them prior they wouldn't get much sleep the night before due to being so excited and be tired and/or cranky for their first day at the (and my) "Happiest Place on Earth".
