Pop Century Thermostat Override?

Sounds like the consensus is that overriding the thermostat at Pop Century is either not possible or no one really knows how to do it. If there is anyone out there that actually overrode the Thermostat at Pop Century and knows how to do it - please help!

Is there a power button on the Pop Century Thermostat to push in conjunction with the temperature down button? Sounds like there certainly is at other resorts, but not at Pop - can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Would anyone recomend getting a fan in the room who has stayed there if the air con is not on during the night. Bit we are from uk and don't have to worry about air con during the night (even during the day it is not that warm ). Don't want to be stuck at pop not being able to sleep cause it is so warm. When we have been to florida before we have always had air con on during the night. Any advice would be great.

Sooo.... The only way to override the system is to find something to move. Will a balloon work???????????

My husband had suggested a balloon to the maintenance man, and he said that it probably work. Of course my MacGyver had to find a more "unique" way to accomplish it.

I think that anything that moved in the fan breeze would be sufficient.

I think I will be buying a balloon as soon as we get there. I can't sleep if it is hot.

We tried balloons. It didnt work for us, but they didnt move much either. I would say one of those large metallic balloons and a very small oscillating fan should work. The balloons have to move for that idea to work, and theres no reason for them to move when your asleep with the windows and door shut.

In front of the motion sensor, about 3-4 foot away would probably be best I would guess. It depends on the sensitivity of the motion detector. Probably a trial and error thing. you should know within a few minutes if its working.

I have stayed at POP 7 times so far and I have never seen a power button because I have looked for one many times because it gets so darn cold in the rooms at night and I keep having to get up to turn up the temperature -

I would really like to know what temp you guys who are hot in there sleep in at home. I live an hour away from POP and I have my temp set at 76 in my house during the day and 74 at night. At POP I set it at 72 for when we get into the room from the parks and bump it up all night until it gets to 75 and we aren't shivering. Of course we only sleep under the sheet at POP and at home - maybe you guys like to be under the blankets?

I have seen many posts on how to do the override the thermostat and everyone says the same thing - it can be done. I haven't tried it yet.

This is the first I am hearing about the thermostat problem.

How cold will the rooms get? I like my home COLD. (60-65 degrees - and yes, I pay dearly in electric bills.)

So the best thing to do would be - bring a fan that moves & get a helium baloon and attach it to the fan so that the sensor never sees no movement. (Will this work at night - or do I need a light on?

That's usually my favorite thing about hotel rooms... they usually get very cold.

Thanks for bringing this topic up. I don't want to be miserable while on vacation.

I would really like to know what temp you guys who are hot in there sleep in at home.

I like my head cold and my body warm under a comforter. I keep the A/C at 68 at night when I need it.

This thread is not talking about lowering the temperature setting of the thermostat. It is talking about the motion sensors that cycle the unit on or off, depending on whether there is movement detected in the room.
The problem many experience is, since at night they are not moving about the room, the unit cycles off completely, no matter what setting the thermostat is set at.
Kiddeokee, according to CDisneys post, he was told the lowest possible setting on the thermostat is 68 degrees.

We have had this problem also. We sleep with a small fan on, which we bring with us. What we do is buy a ballon and place in front of the sensor with the fan blowing on it. The motion from the ballon keeps the a/c on.

sorry trying to follow this thread but am getting confused. Is everyone basically saying that there will be no a/c on when no-one is in the room and during the night when sleeping? Doesn't this mean that the room is alw/ ays going to be warm? How long does the a/c take to cool down the room sorry i am from UK we don't need a/c in our houses only heat to keep us warm.

When we were at POP (9/4 - 9/10) DH would set the thermostat to 70 while we were gone, and 68 while we were in the room. We had a travel white noise machine that had a thermometer as well, and at 68 on the thermostat it was reading 65 in the room on my thermometer!

Also, we never had problems with the room getting hot, even when we were out of the room for the day.
