Since when did they have options of "pool view" with a higher cost? I knew standard and preferred where there, but not pool view. How long has this option been around?

No matter to me, just curious... I would rather not be on the pool side, it can get loud for a late sleeper like me lol.

They used to just have standard and preferred rooms at Pop (at least that's my recollection). I think they added the pool view and preferred pool view in 2011. I always stick with standard at Pop and have been happy with those rooms over the last several years. We don't have little kids and have no health limitations, so I really don't care if I'm close to the food court or transportation. I also don't really want to hear the pool noise, so the pool view is no great benefit to me.

We had a standard room in the 1950s section, building 3, earlier this month. We were on the first floor and had a lake view. I think our room number was 3116. I loved it!

That's odd. The only advantage I can think of to a "pool view" is maybe a slightly shorter walk to the pool. I certainly wouldn't pay extra for it.

Looking at the map, it looks like by booking a preferred pool view you can be sure you will be very close to the food court/gift shop and bus stop. Even some of the regular preferred rooms look to be a bit farther away.

I'm a mess. I can't decide between POP and the Sports. And if I book the POP I can't figure out which room type to book.:headache:

This thread is was very helpful! Just booked 2 preferred pool view rooms for Sept. The pools are very cool, my kids will LOVE it! :thumbsup2

Online it says that the wheelchair accessible room have 1 King bed and 1 double bed. We have a son in a wheelchair and have stayed at Pop the last 3 years. I'm trying to figure out HOW they would have room to squeeze a double bed into a KING room or King into a double room....don't think it's possible. SO are the rooms still set up the same as they've always been? Really need to know so I know how to make my family comfortable. Thanks for any help DIS friends can give.:yay:

I don't believe the King handicap accessible rooms have a double, too. The handicap accessible rooms are either of a King room or a double room (2 double beds). I saw what you saw on the www.Disneyworld.com site, however. It would be awfully tight. I suggest that you might want to check the DisAbilities board and see if someone has actually stayed in one of those rooms.

This from the Pop unofficial thread on this board:

King Bed Rooms accommodate up to 2 people, plus one portable crib for an infant (defined as a child under 3). This category has a total of 144 rooms; of which 63 are Handicap Accessible. All floors have regular and handicap accessible King rooms; however the 4th floor King rooms are only HC.

Double/Double Bed Rooms feature two double beds and accommodate up to 4 adults/children plus one portable crib for an infant. Note: there is an additional charge for a third and fourth adult (over 17) in the same room. This category has a total of 2,621 rooms; of which 115 are Handicap Accessible.

I am wondering if they did that when they got rid of the eyesore (aka The Legendary Years) side across the lake? That or when they put refrigerators in the rooms.

Disney added many new categories to the values and moderates based on the amount of requests for that particular "category." They got wise to us, and lo, we are all willing to pay for it.

Used to be at POR, it was king bed room, garden view or waterview.

Now, they have added preferred (close to the main building and amentities), courtyard view, riverview and royal rooms.
