Just got back from 10 days at POP and I can say honestly it was a wonderful experience. We arrived on 12/18 and had room 9418. From our beds, we could see the fireworks through our window from EPCOT. That was pretty cool. We were on the fourth floor and had no sound over our heads at all, and maybe we were just lucky, but we also had quiet neighbors.

The size of the room was just fine. The four of us, DW and two teenage boys that are both 6' tall, had plenty of room. It took planning and a little discipline (as far as dirty clothes, and stuff having it's place every evening), but it worked out just fine. We spend our days at the parks, including Universal and IOA, so having a bigger, more expensive room, is not important to us at all. Clean bed, clean shower, enough room to move around and we are a happy bunch.

Not sure when our next trip will be (gotta pay this one of first), but if/when it is, we will stay at POP for sure. AAA rate was right at $60/night and that was through Christmas (because we checked in before high season started).

Any questions, please feel free to ask. :D

From reading thourgh some other threads it seems that POP is the tops in the value ressrts. Anyone disagree? Just trying to get all the info I can for our December 2005 stay. princess:

Thanks for the review/preview Pinboys! We're coming to Pop Century in July.

How was it getting to IOA? Did you drive or take a shuttle? We're (Mrs GG, our 18 & 15 YO kids and I) thinking of taking a day to go there. Are you glad you went?

Thanks for the comforting words on the size of the room! We just switched our ressies to Pop for 4/30-5/7. I'm so excited to stay at a new hotel. So how do you suggest we keep everything to keep the room tidy? Did you store dirty clothes and luggage in closet? I know the closet is supposed to be small. Just curious.

Nik's Mom: We found that we just took some kitchen trash bags and put the dirty clothes in them. Since it was pretty cool, temperature wise, while we were there, the clothes did not have that "sweaty smell" to them at all. IF that would have been a problem, we just take a box of bounce with us and put some sheets in the dirty clothes and that takes the smell away. We stored the 10 days worth of clothes in three kitchen size bags under the rack next to the sink. We did not have a closet and I don't think these rooms have one. We also unpacked everything and put it in the drawers. There are three large drawers and three smaller ones (not that small by the way). There are also three small shelves...all found on the entertainment unit with the 27" TV.

We also take, from SAMS, packages of those small chocolate Donuts, Juice, and muffins for Breakfast. Saves some $$$$ there. The refillable mugs are $11.99/piece and the smaller looking one holds the same amount as the bigger looking one. Can be deceiving.

ganggreen4jc: We drove there. Parking is $9 a day. IOA is a blast. Big time coasters, and make sure you do Spiderman. Also, go over to Universal and do the Mummy ride, Shrek4-D, and MIB ride. If you get there when it opens, you can get both done in one day....if you have a ticket that allows to go between the parks.

AGAIN......POP is great. Ask for a top floor and for us, that seemed to work out great. No one above us.

Ask away with any other questions.

I arrived at Pop on the 18th as well. My room was 9125, first floor, 80's section right next to the Rubik's cube and the 8 track tape (and the 90's cell phone building that says: "Networking"). I must say that day was pretty warm. But the next coupla days were COLD! I kept asking myself: "Is this Florida?" I remember walking around MGM all bundled up and this cute CM walks by and says, "Oh, so there is someone under there! Welcome to Florida!"

Man I love that place! Kudos to Castmember Linda at the front desk and Castmember Kathy at Everything Pop food court!
