Pop Century Preferred Rooms worth it?

I've stayed at Pop 3 times, had a preferred room once and wouldn't pay for it again. We were in Building 10, in the 70s section facing another building, near the Big Wheel. It was a good location, but very noisy. We were on the 3rd floor, above the outdoor Twister court and could hear people spinning the Twister spinner at 11:00 PM. Also, that through-way was the main corridor for guests of the 80s and 90s to get to the food court, so there was always a lot of people-noise. The other 2 stays we were in the 50s building, close to the middle of the building. We actually had rooms next door to each other on 2 different stays almost a year apart. It was much quieter and still very convenient. Not far to the food court or pool.

I'd request certain buildings, but would not book preferred based on the noise factor.

Non-preferred, building 3! That is our favorite spot - very near the food court, bus stops are right outside the food court, quieter pool (bowling), very near laundry also. I always put in a room request, and usually I am at least close to my requested area. The only time I didn't get my request, when they showed me where my room was at check-in, I asked them to move me closer. They did - WITH A SMILE!!

Next trip we are going to give AofA a chance, but I have a feeling we will be right back at POP the next trip because we just love it.

On our very first trip ever we requested preferred. It was in a good location. My second trip I just put a room request in that it was close to transportation & ground floor. We were closer to the main building that time. I put the same request in on my last trip and we were in the 90's building right past the giant cell phone. Technically we were close to transportation but we had to cross the parking lot to get to the buses. I wouldn't pay for preferred ever again.

We don't care for preferred either. The one time we paid preferred at POP, we got a room facing one of the pools, and the racket was unbelievable...people in the pool almost all night, screaming and yelling. We got maybe 2 hours sleep that first night. Kids running up and down the walkways at 2-3am. NEVER again. We always stay in the 90's building now, and have never had an issue.

I think it's absolutely worth the money. The first time we stayed at PC, we were in the 90's and it was seeing the bus in sight and trying to run to get to the stops. And then after a long day at the park, that walk back seems to take forever.

Ever since, we have payed for preferred at Pop and All Stars. I have always felt like it was worth every penny. Not just for the walk to and from the buses, but how close it is to the cafeteria. It is so easy just to walk down and refill your mug, or run to the gift store. I just today booked my trip and for 6 nights at AllStar Movies, it was $114 more for preferred. I'll make a sacrifice somewhere else if I feel like I need to. I really, really think it's worth it. Have fun! I love PC!!

I have stayed at POP many many times ONLY 50's bldg I asked I got maybe luck
if I were you I would call tell them about your ankle and could you please request the first floor of the 50's bldg here's some luck for you :wizard: (and I did not pay for preferred)

We stayed at POP in the 90s building on an upper floor with 2 kids in a double stroller! It was awful. Long walk plus elevator.
