What is the difference between a preferred room and a standard room at Pop Century?

I'd like to know too. I accidentally clicked preferred room. How much extra is that? I figured I'd keep it that way, but if it'll save us some money I might try to change it.

Location, I believe the preferred rooms are in the buildings right near the main pool. I don't think it's worth buying the upgrade and here's why. We were at Pop 2 years ago, my parents got a preferred room, we didn't. Our room ended up being closer to one of the side pools then theirs was to the main pool. We literally could walk right out of our room and into the pool, they on the other hand had to walk completly around the building to get to the main pool.

If you don't care what pool you're near I'd say go with the standard room. If memory serves me we were in the building with the big bowling pins, to the right as you walk out the back of the main building.

Have a magical trip, whatever you decide!! :)

OK, that is what I thought it must be - location. It isn't a huge difference in money - $96, I think, but that $96 can definitely go towards something else.

Thanks for the info!

When you check in just ask them to be in the closest building to the main pool that's not a preferred room. Maybe ask them for a map so you can familiarize yourself with the layout before you get the room.

$96 can get you tons of souvies!!! Have fun.

I have stayed at POP twice now and prefer a preferred room. They are closer to the lobby, bus stops and main pool. both times we have been just footsteps away from all three. i think it is well worth the money. there is nothing worse than being exhausted from the parks, having to stand on the bus ride to POP, getting back to the resort and then having to hike another journey to your hotel room on the other side of the property. go preferred! :thumbsup2

Heck - for a good part of the year, $96 can get you another night at Pop Century!

I've found that preferred rooms are farther from the parking lot. If that matters to you. I've also found that plenty of non-preferred rooms are just as close to (or at least not much further from) the main building and bus stops.

Though most of the preferred rooms are in the 60s, there are some in the 70s and 50s as well.

Preferred rooms are not an automatic deal as some are farther away from the amenities than some non preferred rooms.

Personally, I would never spend money on a preferred room at Pop. Classic Hall is a hop, skip, and a jump from everywhere there. We were in 90's, which is often touted as the farthest walk, and if you cut across the parking lot, you are to Classic Hall/busses/food court in under 3 minutes. Super fast and quick! And $96 cheaper ;)

Also, make sure you request first floor. I had a preferred room on the top floor. It was okay, but first floor is still first floor.

I think it's like 8-10 dollars more a night. It puts you closer to the main building.

In general they seem to have better locations but having stayed there the last 2 years I couldn't see paying anything extra for them. The way this area is laid out , everything is close. :surfweb:
