Well I must say, after staying at POP in Dec, ALL of the pictures due the resort justice. What a wonderful place to stay if you want to save a little money. We were next to the green yo-yo on the 4th floor facing the pool. Just awesome! Thank you to all that have taken the time to post!

Here's my POP POTD!!!

Great pictures everyone! We will be there in April for the first time, these pictures are wonderful:goodvibes

Great pics!!

We just returned from a week on the Magic with a couple of days at Pop afterward, and I think it might be our new favorite resort. What a fun place!! I got lots of pics, but thought I would share these three. They're of the abandoned "Legendary Years" resort across the lake, and wow was it creepy to see. They built this beautiful, elegant bridge from the Classic Years, and it just dead-ends at nothing. It is such a contrast, then, to see dead trees and overgrown weeds around brown husks of buildings... especially when steps behind me it was so green and lush and tropical. And it was so quiet... It was downright spooky.

Glad you enjoyed Pop!! The Legendary Years is really haunted looking, isn't it? What a waste of lovely scenery. IMO if they weren't going to finish it, why build it in the first place! It definitely detracts from the Classic Years.

Any idea WHY the legendary Years were never completed? Will thye be in the future or are they going to be left like that?

SUPPOSEDLY - they're supposed to complete it. When is the big question. I don't know why they stopped working on it - I can't imagine that they ran out of money:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . But it really IS an eyesore, especially walking along the "jogging trail" and along the bridge. We'll all find out together!!:thumbsup2

I have heard from a number of sources that constructions was halted after Sept 11. The guest numbers dropped and the numbers didn't warrant another resort.

Hmmm - that would make sense. However, it appears that the resorts and parks are at peak capacity now, so I wonder if Disney will revisit completing the resort.

I've just taken a look at all 84 pages and the photos are great. We were there just before Christmas 2005 and we found the staff very helpful and pleasant.

Many thanlks to everyone who has taken the time to post their photos.

Another rumour was that they were contemplating using it for more family suites.

The story is they stopped working on it when 9/11 happened. All of Pop was stopped at that point and then they resumed the Classic years a while later, but never finished the legendary years. A rumor on here is that a law suit with the contractor is keeping them from finishing right now, but I have no clue if that is actually true or not.

Aha, thanks so much for the repsponses.

The addition of those early 1900 years would be awesome. I hope they do finish it. The photos sure do look like it is a major eyesore.

My thoughts are that perhaps the grounds should at least be maintained - thereby giving it an upkept appearance even though the resort itself is in a state of limbo. All the dead trees and overgrown grasses and bushes really make it look like a mess. Oh, well, we'll all find out together what the grand outcome will be!!

Wouldn't it be great if they would actually do that? I know that I would book a family suite at POP every year. Right now, we'd rather just do 2 rooms at POP than the AS family suite - even tho they look great and have the kitchenette, which would make things easier. We just have come to love POP that much. But now if we could get a family suite at POP...well, that would be the best! Hey, Disney...are you listening? ;)

This could be at least part of it. I have stayed at Pop 4 times and have yet to see it booked solid. Matter of fact, they have upgraded us to preferred rooms 3 of the 4 times for free. :thumbsup2

Maybe some day the 1900's will be completed....

:hippie:
