Pop Century or Movies Value Resort

We are doing a room only for one night at the end of March on our travel day and have a choice between Pop and Movies. Which do you like better and why? When was the last time either place was refurbished? Thank you for your thoughts.

We have stayed at POP 3 times in the last 18 mths. Our last trip being this past December. We had to fly in 1 day early due to a snow storm , and pop had no room. Therefore, we stayed at All star Movies. Never ever again..................Compared to POP it was dirty. My room smelled like bleach. Only to find mold growing in the tiles in the bathroom. The selection in the food court wasnt what i was used to, and the front desk service was slower than molasses! I swear i stood in line 40 minutes to check out. Mind you i prepaid my room, and only needed a cm to transfer my luggage. They always say a first impression is a lasting one! Unfortunately the first impression was awful.
A side from all that..................We love pop!! I honestly have never had a bad experience there!

If your looking for great reviews AllEarsNet.COM is a great place to look at reviews for the resorts. I will always tell a person to stay at POP, the food is very good for what it is, (that was a big suprise for me) and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Ask to stay in the 60's building the flip side of the pool if at all possible. The buses aren't shared with anyone, and the over all cleanliness is good, I didn't feel it was gross at all, probably because it's one of the newest resorts in the World (Walt Dis. World that is)this was also one of the reasons I stayed here, I'm a picky when it comes to being clean. I have heard they re-did the All stars Music, so they should be very clean also. But I think you would love the POP best. You can't go wrong!

If I could choose Assp or ASmu we'd stay there before Pop... but comparing Pop to ASmo... we'd choose Pop.

ASmo is just really showing it's age now and until the rooms are renovated, we won't be staying there anytime soon. The rooms are very much outdated and worn and Pop will "trump" in this category. It's not to say that ASmo is "worse" but rather we feel we get more for our money at Pop.

We're not big Pop fans, but think it's fine for a "one nighter" There are 3 pools to hop around, a great pop jet fountain play area, outdoor twister, great food court, newer rooms (based on resort construction time), and a rare chance of running into school/sports/tour groups.

If your planning on spending most of your day at the resort, I'd go with Pop (or try looking into ASmu, more resort activites). ASmo is very well themed and great "kiddie-eye" candy... but the room quality and lack of activites really steer us away.

We have stayed at both and liked POP better. We were there for a week last April and only saw a quarter of the resort. There are so many things to look at and places to walk around. The set up is newer and the food court has better food. They had stuff for kids all day like Play-doh, hula hoop, bowling, dancing in the food court and games by the pool. I don't remember doing thing like that at ASM. My DH picked AKL 1st Choice and POP 2nd-financially POP won out for all around best resort.

I have stayed at both before, and I would choose POP over any of the All-Stars. The main reason, the Disney Transport runs POP buses only. The transports for the all-star resorts stop at all three. The Movies is the last stop, and some times you can be getting on a bus that is already jammed packed.
The gift shop at the POP is very nice too.

We have been to ASMo on 2 occasions, we have never had a problem with bleach smell, or mold in our room. We have only had one problem with the bus service coming back from DTD. We have always enjoyed our stay there. I must say though after reading the Grooviest Pop Thread we might be changing our minds.

Anyway we all have a great time no matter where we stay becuase we are in Disney!!!!!!!

I've stayed at All Star Movies twice and Pop Century once, and although I didn't have any problems with either of them, I prefer Pop because of its atmosphere. It's more lively and colorful that Movies, and the it's nice to see all the memorabilia in the lobby/shop/dining area.

Also, I think Movies could have used some help in its film choice . . . they surely could have picked a more well-known movie than Mighty Ducks.

Thanks for all the input, but you snooze you lose, we contacted our TA today and POP was sold out. Looks like we're staying at Movies for a night. We're excited, either way we're at Disney.

You will have a great night at Movies.
I was going to vote for it over Pop. We stayed at Pop in 2006 and were not thrilled with it. The biggest drawback for us was the size of the resort. The place is huge, which of course means more people. It may not share a bus with other resorts but, due to the size of the resort they can still be very busy.

We stayed at Movies four times before we decided to join DVC and never had a bad stay.

Thanks, we will for sure. We're really excited about the Disney movie theme, actually any time staying in a different Disney resort for the first time is exciting.
