Pop Century or Caribbean Beach?

So, we have a trip for December booked at the Pop Century, but I've noticed its not that much to upgrade to the Caribbean Beach Resort ($300 difference). For people who have stayed there since the renovation completed, would it be worth the upgrade from Pop? Me and my GF are going to celebrate our 6 year anniversary, so I've been looking for ways to make the trip a little more special. Thank you!

How much time do you think you'll be spending at the resort? If you're all day in the parks then I would use the $300 for something else (DAH, dessert party, signature dinner, etc). If you're going to be at the resort for part of the day then a moderate will give you some "quiet" pools, nicer landscaping, slightly larger room, etc. I'm not personally a fan of CBR but I know it's popular with a lot of people. My choice for a moderate is POR or POFQ.

Agree with terri33inne- if you plan on spending time at the resort go moderate. If not, Pop is great. We did Pop for the first time last summer and liked it so much more than we expected to. Have a great trip!

I would only upgrade to CBR if you don't mind a lot of walking (CBR is massive) or can upgrade to a preferred room. I've stayed at 12 different resorts (if you count Swan and Dolphin) and CBR is my least favorite of them all. It is pretty, but huge. And I didn't care for the food offerings at all once I hiked up to them.

We were sort of torn on this too and decided on a preferred room at Pop. We plan to be at the parks mostly so decided to spend a little extra to get us closer to the bus stop and food court. The vastness of CBR was what put us off there

For 300 I'd chose CBR (although I've never stayed at POP). Yes, it's big, but you really don't have to walk much unless you plan on eating there multiple times or going to the main pool. We were in Aruba, which was quite a walk to the main building. However, the pool, bus stop, and coke freestyle machine were all within an easy distance.

CBR would be our choice for sure. CBR is our favorite Moderate by far and our 2nd favorite resort of all right behind BWI. That was even before all the upgrades and now it's even better. They made a beautiful resort even better. The laid back relaxed atmosphere is such a nice change from the craziness of the parks.

I'd choose Pop. We've stayed at both and I did not like CBR at all. The theming did nothing for me, and the resort is huge. I love everything about Pop, especially the renovated rooms.

I stayed at each one time. I’d choose CB. It will be more relaxing due to vibe and the landscaping and overall feel more special than Pop.

There is a strong possibility (IMO) that the Skyliner lines will be complete and running by December. I have read that CBR will be the hub for this system meaning that depending upon destination some of those coming from other resorts on the line will have to switch at CBR to get to other stops such as DHS and Epcot. This could make staying at CBR more appealing to some people. I'll be at Pop this fall but having to switch lines to get to a park doesn't bother me. It might bother someone who is transferring an ECV or strollers etc.

Pop hands down. Have stayed there since they opened, its home. We are also park open/close people too and are up to 18 days now with my DD21, my Mum and myself in the room (DD still sleeps w/me Mum at 72 gets a bed to herself) luv Pop! We have stayed for a night or two at others including CBR and AKL my DD looks at me each time and says “it’s lovely but it’s just not Pop”:rotfl2:

Can you get a king bed room at CB and Pop? That might be a consideration too.

Thanks for all the replies! We are mostly at the parks everyday, so we decided to stick with Pop and use the money saved towards a dining plan.

We’ve stayed at both. Pop is pretty basic but adequate. For only 2 people, I would save the $300 to spend on a special dinner or experience. Have fun!

I personally don't care for CBR. I've only stayed there once, and that was one too many times. I didn't care for the environment at all. I realize that others may have differing opinions, but I didn't even feel like I was at Disney. Also, it's huge and a long walk to the bus stops. Then the bus stops so many times coming and going from the resort, that it really adds lots of transportation time.

On the other hand, I love Pop! It's one of my very favorite resorts, despite being in the value category. I would choose Pop over many of the moderate resorts. The theme is amazing, food court good, nice, recently renovated rooms, and just an overall fun place to stay. It puts me in a very Disney like mood. I would pay $300 more to stay at Pop over CBR!

Have a FUN trip and stay at Pop! pixiedust:
