Pop Century is FULL?

We are staying at the Pop Jan 8-13. I just called to add a room only for the 7th and/or the 13th and they have nothing available. Why not?

I thought this time of the year was pretty slow. Is it because they are a Sat and a Friday? The CM told me to call back every morning and something might open up. It's not a big deal to stay offsite for those days but now I'm afraid the hotel will be jam packed with people. Anybody have any insight why they seem to be full?

Probably because the Marathon is that weekend.

I checked online and it says no resorts are available then except SSR. Will it be that crowded the whole week after the marathon too?

Friday/Saturday nights are typically the hardest to book, and both the dates you are looking at are part of long weekends. The 7th is the night before the Marathon, which is almost alway booked solid everywhere. And the 13th is part of Martin Luther King weekend, so also booked solid.

We were there last year during the marathon, not for the parks, but for Cirque Du Soliel and a general quick weekend getaway. We arrived Fri. and left Sunday night. It was absolutely packed. The buses at POP century (where we stayed for night 1), were just jammed full. We did not do the parks that trip, so I can't comment on the crowds there, but the resort area was an absolute zoo. Second night at CSR, was slightly more manageble. Seemed as though most of the runners we're leaving Sunday night or Monday AM after the race, so not sure about the following week.

I am also curious about the week after.
We are there from 1/14-1/21, and thought it was a great time of the year to go with hardly any crowds.
I booked with no problem about 6 weeks ago. Hmmmm......

There is also a large cheerleader and dance competition January 13-16.

Ugh - I'm starting to think there is no offseason at WDW anymore. (Yes, I know they pay people to make sure of that! )
