We are going to Disney in October for the first time!!!! :cheer2: We were scheduled to stay at the All Star Movies Resort but just found out that the pool will be under construction during our stay so we changed to Pop Century. Does anyone have any advise or information on Pop Century?? Pros or Cons about staying there. I would really appreciate any information since we are first timers.... THANK YOU!!!!

We stayed there in April and loved it. It's great for young kids but my dh and I got a kick out of the memorabilia as well. So did my teenage ds. We loved the main pool (the little ones had a blast in the kiddie pool) with the background music and cool and funky icons all over (the icons make for GREAT photo ops) We had no problems with the busses or the food court. We really had no complaints but I think some people do find it noisy and motel-like. I've always stayed at moderates before we tried Pop and I think POP was actually more fun and Disney like than the moderates were (although POR will always be my fave). I'm sure you could find lots of info on the WDW Resorts board. Good luck and have fun.

Hi there.
We stayed 7 nights at POP in May.
We stayed in the 50's section which was perfect. We had room 2420 which was the best. It was a top floor room overlooking the lake and we had front row seating for Epcot fireworks every night that we were back at the room by 9pm ~ which wasn't often but still good.
We had the bowling pin pool which was less busy than the hippy dippy pool but like a 1 min. walk to each other. My kids also used the hippy dippy pool alot because of the sprinklers going into it. It is fun. Our room was very quiet.
NOTHING is a big walk which I was worried about before we went because you hear everyone talking a bout things being far away but honestly nothing is far from anything there. Plus if you don't wanna walk to anything maybe Disney isn't where some people should be as you walk walk walk.
Anyhow I will post photos tomorrow when I get my regular computer back.
Also the buses are fabulous. No sharing with any other resort.
We never waited more than 10 minutes ever for a bus including after Wishes night. They had double buses going then.
THe cafeteria is fine also at POP...you just need to figure out the best way to work the meals and who's getting in line for what but really its easy.
ENJOY!! I'm jealous. I would stay again in a minute.
:thumbsup2

Oh, your family will LOVE Pop! We stayed 8 nights in January and will definitely stay there from now on! We've had 2 family trips and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and Pop. POR was beautiful, but HUGE. The kids needed strollers just to get around the resort. There were 5 bus stops so it took FOREVER just to leave the resort! It seemed like a mile walk from our room to the food court. POR did have a few more recreation options and a fun boat to Downtown Disney, but we fell in love with Pop.

Pop is big, but it seemed MUCH more compact. We stayed in the 70s section (Mickey phone) and we could see the food court from our room. The kids (and adults) loved the huge icons as well as all the games, etc. (We had a Twister game in front of our building.) The kids loved the pop jet fountain and the pools. The food court was more family friendly. The buses were AWESOME. ONE STOP! You got on the bus and you went to the park! Not to 4 more bus stops!

We love the Pop Century. :thumbsup2 Our last 4 trips have been at the Pop! In the past I have requested the 50s 60s or 70s and have always been lucky to get them. But we just got back yesterday and I didn't request and got the 80s. It was still nice but a longer walk to the food court with 2 little ones. The 80s and 90s are the furthest away. You can opt for the prefered room at an extra price too, which I may do next time :)
The food court is great, the pools are nice, and the bus service has always been excellent. Have a great time!!

We stayed at the POP in May 05. It was a nice experience, except for the long walk from the room to the bus stop. It wasn't that bad in the morning, but at night after we spent all day at the parks, it seemed to take forever. With shortcuts, we had the walk down to five minutes. I think we were in the 80's building. I am not sure where the preferred rooms are, but they may be closer.

We just spent 7 nights at the Pop and loved it. It was our second stay there. We were in the 80's building with Roger Rabbit. It had its own pool which was nice but was a walk from the food court. We didn't fill our mugs as much as we would have if we had been closer. I e-mailed Disney a suggestion that they put a beverage station at each pool for your mugs! As far as the buses go we did not wait long for any. If you are in the 80's or 90's buildings go behind them and go through the parking lot to the buses. It is closer than going through the food court. It saves a lot of steps when your tired.

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for the info. We are staying at Pop from September 11th to the 21st. After reading all these good responses, I can't wait to stay there.

With this trip, I would love to do a scrapbook of our trip and would love to include pictures of the resort. Not to mention pictures at WDW.
