Pop Century Construction

Ok, so I've stayed at POP 2 times and have never made it back to the lake or bridge. What is on the other side of the bridge?? Is it open where you can just walk on the unfinished section( I would never do it, just curious), or is it blocked off by something?? I plan on taking my telephoto lens and snapping some pictures in September when we go. Thanks for the info!!!:goodvibes

Well I'll be staying at Pop Century in December, so I will report back here on what (if any) construction is taking place.

Us To! DEC 8-15. This will be our first visit to a value. can't wait. I do hope they finish this section of POP. What a waste of space.

There's a fence blocking the far side of the bridge, with a row of trees planted behind it to screen the view, but you can look between the branches and see all the pipes sticking up from the ground, weeds weeds and more weeds, and the completed buildings. Really an eyesore. The bridge itself is pretty, though, and I thought it was worth walking across just to get another perspective of the hotel.

Ironically enough.. Generation Gap bridge currently has a short gap of open water between the end of the bridge and landfall on the Legendary Years side of the lake.

;)

Thanks to both of you!!!:goodvibes

I agree tear it down. If they are gonna let it sit there then I won't stay at pop any longer. If it was one of the delux resort it would have been done by now. So sad. I think as much as I have spent at Dw and the disney store I could have paid for half of it KWIM. As a one income military family we have to stay at the value so we can enjoy the magic. I think it kinda rude and mean on disney's part to leave that eye sore there.

WOW, is it that bad? Is it that noticable? Maybe I don't want to stay at POP:confused:

By all means, stay at Pop. I have stayed at every resort on grounds, and Pop is my 2nd favorite behind the Poly. The lake is beautiful at night, and the buildings across the lake are not beautiful, but they're not grotesque either.:hippie: Peace out

depends upon you. I found the lake view the best. very relaxing. others have been upset by the vacany building.

I guess they have never lived or visited near a building going up or one about to be torn down.

I would hope they finish it and turn it into all family suites. There are a lot of families with more than 4 people that have to get 2 rooms just so they can stay at Pop. Now I'm gonna have to take a walk across that bridge when I get there.

After 9/11 there wasn't even any buildings. They had planned for standard rooms, but has since decided to do 1 bedroom family suites.

This statement just isn't true. Those buildings have been there for years. The family suites rumor is just that a rumor. It may or may not come to fruition.

BTW for the person asking if its 'that bad". I've stayed on the lake, and its really not that bad. There are trees blocking most of the veiw.

I agree. Like I said earlier, if you have just the right spot, if you walk outside your room you can see Hourglass Lake, Tower of Terror, Swan/Dolphin, and Spaceship Earth all just a few steps outside your room! . . . that's in the 60's section (but if you're not in that section, you can always walk there and see it just as well)

Yeap, I was wrong. But I think that has been pointed out already.

If you're interested in Pop, please don't let the vacant buidlings stop you! It's not a big deal. Yes, I did say it's an eyesore -- if you're looking at it straight on. We were in the 50's, jukebox building (facing the pool) and we couldn't see any of it.

Frankly, the only reason I went out to look at the "forgotten years" was because I'd read about it here. Otherwise, I might not even have noticed :hippie: .

I didn't request a specific area, any suggestions?? I know, I can't wait to see these too!

We stayed in 60's and found it perfect . . .there was a flower-shaped pool and the lobby was close by (but remember all 60's rooms aren't near the pool & lobby . . . some are VERY far away from them!). Also I think 50's or 70's would be good. ALthough 80's/90's has a pool, it's very far away from the lobby,

The rumor I have heard is that they are in a lawsuit with the contractor. And until that is settled no work is allowed to be done. That makes since to me, so I tend to kind of believe that one.
