Ok I have read different things about the A/C at Pop Century. We will be there next month and my wife likes the room to be real cold, we have never had a issue at any of the other All Stars on the air it has been good. So I am wondering what is the real scoop is it that different than the other All Stars or what??? I would hate for something like the A/C not make my wife happy which in turn obviously would not allow me to be happy??? If you know what I mean. Any help would be great.:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I also wanted to add what is the next closest building besides the 60's which is preferred. I requested the 70's building but now am thinking that the 50's would be just as good??? I know it is not guaranteed but might as well ask. Thanks

Just ret'd from 7 nite stay at PC. A/C was great! We left it at one setting (68 degrees) and it stayed cool constantly. It stayed the same temp all night long, we left it on when we went to the parks and it was always nice and cold when we retd. We never had a problem with a/c. I've read where the movement thing plays a big part but we had no trouble whatsoever.

Enjoy your stay! Any questions?

After reading the paragraph below (taken from the Allears web site), I too, was worried about the AC at POP since I prefer the Arctic Zone.
**********
"Without motion in the room fairly regularly, the thermostat will default to a "shut off" position. The room becomes warmer than you'd like overnight, and you won't find a nice, cool, air-conditioned room upon returning from the parks on a hot day."
**********

Now, here are some helpful (if not ingenious) tips I picked up from the "Talk Disney" message board:
*edited to say these comments were intended as lighthearted fun*

"Tigger2 says": "I'm getting a balloon to tie to a chair to keep the air on.."

"10 min to wdw" says: "just make sure the chair is near the air conditioner vent so while your gone the A/C system will keep it moving around."

And if you're thinking of keeping your Pop room thermostat at the lowest temperature setting (65 degrees?),
"Jeserin" says: "Nope, if you turn it all the way down you can blow a fuse and the whole thing shuts off... if you leave it about 68 it stays nice and cool.."
*********

Note: No one has come forth to say whether these methods kept their Pop rooms as cool as they would like them. Still, regardless of all the reassurances about the AC at Pop being just fine, my first purchase upon check in is going to be a Mickey balloon!

Keep'n cool at Pop!

I've entered hundreds of rooms midday after they have been vacant for several hours, and the rooms have ALWAYS been very cool.

I have stayed at Pop several times and have never came back to the room and it be warm...just the opposite.

New state of the art A/C working at full capacity...cool.

I'm really glad to hear some of you found the temperature in Pop rooms cool. I think everyone has their own built-in thermostat though. I've heard other say the rooms were uncomfortably warm. :)

I was at POP in May and again in July and no problems with the A/C.
Actually a little to cold one night but after getting things ready for next day and moving around it was ok.

So here is another vote for no problems with keeping cool at POP.

We were at POP in July in two different rooms. On our first stay in the 90s building I had no problem keeping the room where I wanted it. The motion sensor is right on the thermostat. However on our 2nd visit in one of the 70s buildings I could never seem to get the room cool enough even when we were in it. The motion sensor appeared to have been bashed in or melted, I could never tell which it was. A couple of times I was going to call Maintenance, but my wife likes to be in the room if when maintenance comes, etc, and we weren't in the room all that much. So, while it was warmer than I wanted it wasn't terrible. I did call maintenance on checkout and explained to them what was going on with the temperature in the room and what the sensor looked like so they could go in and fix it before the next guest came in.

In our 80s A room we had great air-conditioning -- sometimes even too cool at night.

thanks for all the responses sounds ok too me we will give it a try.

Thanks Again
