First time poster and I need help. I am planning my first vacation to Disney in 20 years with my Fiancée, his adult son and my 14 yr old son. We have a Pop Century Room booked for 9/19-9/25. The two boys would have to share a bed. At first they agreed and now they are not so sure. Is the room big enough for an air mattress or camping cot? I am trying to avoid a blended family war since I just can't afford to add another room. Any other thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

PS. Love the Dis!

Hey there! The family suites at AoA sound perfect for your family! We love Pop, but our family has grown and we need more space. In my opinion, there is not enough room in a Pop resort room for a cot or blow up mattress with both beds in place.

Definitely look into the family suites at AoA.

I have thought about that but I think it pushes the budget too high. I am currently looking at renting a house but right now the cost is about the same. I booked my vacation in 2020 so I think my tickets are at a lower price.

Thinking out loud here, you could MAYBE squeeze a twin air mattress in the space between the door and Murphy bed. It would be tight and you’d have to store suitcases elsewhere.

Thank you. I was able to find a house off of property that would work. I am just nervous that I will not be able to get tickets or reservations if I cancel my current reservation with my travel agent.

We have done the air mattress a few times. It's goes up against the wall when we are done or underneath the stationary bed. The boys take turns sleeping on it.

I suggest seeing if any moderate rooms (a little bigger than POP) are available at a price you can live with if you want to stick with an on-site package. My boys don't share sleeping surfaces. Our last trip was at CSR with two of the boys......we had a rollaway for one and were able to just leave it open all week and still have room to move around....so there certainly would be room for an air mattress and it could be propped up against the wall or something when not in use.
(NOTE rollaways were only available at CSR and may not be available even there anymore. We had a twin air mattress with us just in case.)

If two rooms at Pop is just a little too expensive, have you considered two rooms at ASMovies? It's usually cheaper than Pop.

I would highly recommend you choose a Moderate resort; the price difference is not so enormous. Having an air mattress at Pop would be VERY tight and you'd have to block the door.

I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting tickets or reservations without your travel agent. These boards contain all the info you need to do it yourself if you want to stay off-site.

When we stayed at the AoA in 2017, we brought a double-high twin air mattress for our older child simply because she hip-hop dances in her sleep.
I recall it being a very tight fit, and it required some maneuvering. I knew there was no way that Mousekeeping wouldn't run screaming if they walked in and saw the air mattress down, so we leaned the air mattress up against a wall in the morning and folded her top sheet and blanket and put them directly on top. This kept the floor relatively clear for walking and cleaning, as well as for getting us ready and out the door in the morning.
DD also liked having her own bed, especially since I made sure it had Ariel sheets.
Dh liked having his own bed also because he's a big guy and those were only full size beds at the time.
