we have reservations for a preferred room for the first night of our trip then a standard view for the rest of it (10 nights). Has anyone been in this situation? Do they make you move out of the preferred after night #1? Do they try to put you in a standard when you originally check in? Do they offer you a preferred room for your entire stay? Anybody do this?

A similar thing happened to me, BD. Back in 2006 I decided to turn a 2 night stay into a 6 night stay at Pop. My first 2 nights I had reserved at the AAA rate standard room. When I went to book my other nights, Pop was unavailable for one of the nights and I made a reservation at one of the All Stars for that night and then Pop preferred for two of the nights, and standard for one other!!!!

I kept tracking it on line and luckily a room at Pop opened up on the night I was supposed to be at All Stars. I really just wanted 6 nights standard, but ended up with 4 reservations! 2 nights standard AAA rate, one night preferred regular rate, two nights preferred regular rate and another night standard regular rate. And no, for some reason they could not combine the preferred reservations into one reservation. :confused3

So, I ended up with 6 nights at Pop, but on the phone they could not guarantee that I would not have to keep switching rooms! :rotfl: I was told on the phone that I would have a better chance of staying in one room if I requested a King bed since not many people request them at Pop. Since I was solo, I did not care what type of bed I had.

When I checked in, the CM was able to give me the 6 nights in the standard room and said I would not have to physically move out of my room, but I would have to come down to the to the front desk on three mornings and check out and back in and get new keys!!! :lmao:

I hope it all works out for you and you won't have to move!

I'm thinking that unless they are feeling exceedingly magical, they will make you move after one night. How did your reservation end up like this? :confused3

We had a 10 night reservation and decided we should go down there a day early and get another full day in WDW. So we needed to add another night on to reservation. the only room they had was a preferred room i asked if we could make the whole vacation under a preferred room and they could not accommodate us for the entire stay. So we ended up with two reservations. one night preferred and 10 nights standard

I agree with maxiesmom. Usually, if you have two reservations for the same stay, it's all the same - either all standard or all preferred. It would depend on what the resort capacity would be for those 10 days. That's a fairly long reservation. If for some reason you are allowed to stay in one room for the entire time, you will still need to go down to the front desk after that first night and exchange your room keys. Even if you are in the same room.

But I would prepare for having to switch rooms and if it doesn't happen, it'll be a bonus. Pack on suitcase for that one night to make it easier.
