POP buses in the summer

I just booked POP for next August. Have never stayed there and worried about bus service for such a large resort. Do the buses run more frequently at this resort? Our only experience was at AKL and the bus service was great. We usually like to be at the bus stop between 8am and 8:30am. How are they coming back at night? Thanks!

Hi Tonya

The buses at POP have always run pretty well for us especially in the morning. We were there for 10 days this summer and only had one issue and it was doing to DTD in the middle of the afternoon otherwise the bus was always there with 10-15 minutes.

Getting back to POP at the end of the day from the parks does take a little time but Disney seems to realize the amount of people going to POP and does a good job of getting them there.

We stayed at Epcot one day and there was a long line for the buses but 2 or 3 buses would come at once and so it moved pretty quickly.

Hope this helps

Rob

We will be at POP in 11 days for our first stay so I can let you know once we get back, however from what I've read on these boards is that Pop has thier own bus service and for the most part runs really well aside from some longer waits at the end of the night to return to the resort from the parks.

You're almost guaranteed a long line for any resort at park closing - that's the nature of the beast unfortunately! We stayed at Pop last August and didn't have any problems getting buses. My only complaint is that the turnstile lines to wait for the buses are a bit too small for the volume of people at the resort...this was really only apparent in the morning (8-9AM) when people were jockeying for position. You could always tell what park had early entry hours by how long that park's line was.

Pop's bus lines are always long - very long. But - they do seem to send buses frequently, sometimes 2 & 3 at a time. You should have no trouble in the AM or at park closing with Pop's buses. Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks, everyone! Any advice on what area to request? Were just doing standard, not preferred. It will be Me, DH, DD11 and DS16. Would like to be close to buses, non smoking. Someone said a higher floor is good...does it matter? Thanks again!:)

All rooms are non smoking now, so no need to request that. We liked the 70's building because it's fairly close to the main building/buses and still a standard room. Also, it's close to the Goofy Pop Jets, which my girls enjoy. 50's is a decent location as well and has some standard rooms in it. As for floor level - I personally prefer highest so I don't have little feet pattering above me, but I know of many who prefer the convenience of the first floor. Each building has an elevator in the center if that's a concern for you.

Thanks, how many floors are there? 70's sound like a nice location.:)

4 floors with an elevator in middle of building only.

Seems the 50's 60's an 70's all has preferred rooms now with those closest to the main hall and pool being preferred. I know that the nonpreferred rooms in building 1 in the 50's used to be smoking rooms. Not sure about other buildings tho.

I think 80's used to be smoking too.
I was in a 70's building as well. I liked it, but some might think it was a long walk, it depends on the route you take, and what you think is long. I thought it was just fine. We were more by the back by the lake.

I agree, it seemed like the POP bus lines were always the longest, but they moved fast and when times were busy they sent several buses at a time. I would suggest leaving ealrier, or not immediately after fireworsk or parades if possible. That is when most want to leave it seems. We stayed till closing at MK, while alot left after the fireworks and the park so bare. We walked on so amny rides, and then the bus lines had gone down quite a bit too.
