Poor Unfortunate Souls ~ A Spooktacular Trip Back to the World! UPDATE Reality Check

Hey All

How are we doing? All set for Christmas?

I thought I had better get on with this TR, so without further ado I present to you...

Day 7 - Wednesday October 6th
Today was supposed to be a Resort/Downtown Disney Day but we weren't really feeling for that and mixed it up a bit. First up was breakfast which was at The Grand Floridian Cafe. We hopped on the Monorail to the GF ready to start the day with a good hearty breakfast. We got a tad lost along the way trying the find the restaurant, but find it we did and we were seated right away.

Its not a bad little restaurant and would be nice to go back and try it for dinner or lunch. Breakfast is a defo must do again for next year.

The Menu

Some of the decor.

WDWTrip20101040.jpg

We both ordered a Latte and an Orange Juice each.
WDWTrip20101043.jpg

I was loving the Lattes on this trip, started it off (pre flight) with one too :teeth:

I ordered the Eggs Benedict, with the Hollandaise on the side.
WDWTrip20101044.jpg

This was delish, glad I ordered the sauce on the side as there was so much of it. The last time I had eggs benedict I made the mistake of having the sauce on the muffin and it soaked and soggy-d out muffin :(

Dave went for Steak and Eggs.
WDWTrip20101045.jpg

Something different and I think he enjoyed it. The steak has a really nice seasoning on which was quite nice.

Breakfast done with, we jumped back on the Monorail over the MK.

We wandered around a bit and took some pictures.

We walked on to HM as it was a 5min wait.
WDWTrip20101089.jpg

Then made our way over to Fantasy Land and took a ride on PhilharMagic, can't visit FL and not go on Philhar. We wandered round a bit more and bumped into...
WDWTrip20101112.jpg

Alice, the White Rabbit had just stepped away one family before us which was a little disappointing.

WDWTrip20101111.jpg

She was quite cute, here she is asking me if I live in a teapot like the doormouse and I replied saying sorta but its slightly bigger

The White Rabbit came back out after we finished
WDWTrip20101113.jpg

Then we wandered into Tomorrowland and saw a sight that had our jaws dropping to the ground!

WDWTrip20101116.jpg

That is a 20min wait for Stitch!!!

We decided to have a few Laughs with Mike and proceeded to the Laugh Floor. We love this attraction, esp at the beginning when they pick out people in the audience and pinpoint "That Guy"

After Monsters we exited Tomorrowland and took some Photopass Pics.

We also nailed quite a few special shots.

I love Photopass :lovestruc

After we finished up, the PP CM said that we should try and get a shot in front of the Castle just as the fireworks go off for the Castle Show. So off we trotted and explained/asked if we could get that shot. The PP CM was happy to oblige and said to wait to the side and he would call us when it was time. So I took that opportunity to browse the Rose Garden and take some pics.

The Rose Garden is so beautiful and smells gorgeous. But my time was up and the fireworks were just about to go off.

We took a few test shots.

We are so gonna try this again next year.

Picture taking done we wandered down Main Street through the shops.

WDWTrip20101129.jpg

We checked out the Ear/hat shop before sitting down outside and playing a game of chequers. It was actually quite fun to sit and play and we were having a seriously good game. We had a few people come up to us and comment and this was the end result.
WDWTrip20101133.jpg

See what I mean about a serious game.

Just as we finished up the Move It Shake It parade came down MS.
WDWTrip20101138.jpg

WDWTrip20101139.jpg

WDWTrip20101140.jpg

We walked back through the shops on the other side of MS as we were on a mission for lunch at Caseys. We didn't take any pics, but lunch was very pleasant sitting on the benches watching cartoons :)

That's just what I need ........ a nice long Stefy update! :woohoo:

Can you imagine, we have never made it to GFC for breakfast? :scared1: I so want to try those Lobster Eggs Benedict, but whenever I make the reservation, we kind of oversleep and all I can do is cancel! :sad2:

Those PP photos are out of this world! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the one with Stitch!!!!!! :thumbsup2

How was your day? I had kind of a rough one - my throat has been sore the last few days and today really did me in! Guess I need to call in sick tomorrow!
Oh, and btw, so far no sign of your package! :sad2: But there are still two workdays this week! :thumbsup2

Oh dear sorry to hear you're not feeling well :( Sending lots of healthiness and wellness your way

Thanks, thought it was about time I did an update. GFC is a lovely place for breakfast and you must try it at least once next year missy :)

Am so glad we got the Stitch PP shot, was a defo must get this trip.

My day has been so so, this week is taking too long to end. Tomorrow is my last working day and it can't come sooner. I am all about set to wind down and enjoy the Christmas break now. Dave, the lucky so and so, finished work last Friday and has been home all week.

I am not impressed about your package and am kicking myself for not sending it tracked :( I really hope it gets to you and soon, fingers crossed x

Love that update! The relaxing, go-with-the-flow, unplanned days always turn out to be the best! Excellent pictures. The castle looks so great at any angle, from anywhere in the park! And why is it that the sky in the Magic Kingdom is always a little bluer than usual? I love all your photopass shots and we are SO getting the shot with the fireworks!!!

Great update!

I have not made it to GFC for breakfast before, but I have been there for dinner and it was very good. Looks like I will have to make sure we get over there for a breakfast!

lovely update!
Don't you love how quiet Frontierland is that time of day?! we found that this trip :thumbsup2
I have never seen some of those things on Main Street (like the wedding window!) ... I better go back and find them ;)

Hope you are well... looking forward to Christmas and Disneyland Paris! :wizard:

The unplanned ones do turn out great don't they :)

Dave was saying about the blue sky when I was updating, it really is blue. Just goes to show how hot it was too, not a cloud in the sky :)

Thanks Kathy :) The fireworks ones are my favourite too, real unique and different :)

Hey Everyone

How are we all doing, good Christmas?

Our Christmas was very nice and relaxed. Santa outdone himself with gifts for the family and Christmas dinner was yummy yum!

So far our Christmas break has been good, caught up on films and much needed rest. Tomorrow we depart for DLRP, so can't wait to get going. Gonna get the suitcases down later and pack.

Anywho, thought I had better get on with this TR as I want to start a PTR in the New Year and have decided to include the wedding as well, rather than start a PJ, so hopefully you guys will come on over and help with the planning.

Day 8 continued

So we left off with having finished up lunch at Caseys. It was about time to start lining up for the Meet and Greet with Tiana and Naveen. We were quite early and the line was quite short. Think we were 2nd or 3rd in line which wasn't too bad. The CM there was a hoot and we chatted with her for a while. She loves the British and kept getting Dave to say "Brilliant" We just had to get a pic with her.

WDWTrip20101142.jpg

We also got to talking to the family in front and behind us. They were really friendly and we got to talking about home and such. The family behind us had a little girl who was just so adorable, we let them go in front of us when it was our turn as her little face was so excited to see Princess Tiana :cutie:

The interaction with Tiana and Naveen was really cool. I was chatting away to Naveen about him helping gumbo. I think Dave talked to Tiana about her restaurant and that we can't wait to eat there. I think all in all it was around a 5min interaction and Tiana was so sweet and friendly.

This is my favourite picture.
Photo0244FourBySix.jpg

I love the fall decorations around the gazebo, looks really good.

After Tiana, we ventured over to Adventureland to see if a PP photographer was around the Pirates ride. Alas one was not to be found, but we went up to the Pirate Leauge counter and asked and the CM rang through to find out for us. He was really helpful and awesome because 5mins later the PP photographer turned up so Dave could get this shot...

Photo0255FourBySix.jpg

He has been waiting to get this shot for the past two trips and let me tell you it is a toughy! But so glad we finally got it, might just have to print it out and get it framed

After finally getting the elusive Hook shot, we decided to head back to the resort for a rest before our dinner reservation in Epcot.

Here's a little silly shot for you, can you tell how much I love my Mickey Head balloon :teeth:

WDWTrip20101143.jpg

Well rested and ready for dinner we walked to TTC to catch the Monorail to Epcot. Even though we have lots of these photos, we just can't help ourselves getting more :teeth:

Photo0262FourBySix.jpg

Photo0265FourBySix.jpg

We even got some more special shots.
Photo0269FourBySix.jpg

Photo0270FourBySix.jpg

So naughty, but so cute.

We had some time to kill and decided to do a KP mission, our first KP mission in England. Let me tell you KP is alot of fun and not just for the kids, we saw quite a few adults playing along and having fun. The England mission is pretty cool with quite a bit of interaction.

After saving England, we still had a little bit more time to kill and browsed the stores in the pavillion. I bought a Twinings ice tea cup which is perfect for my morning smoothies on the way to work.

WDWTrip20101145.jpg

Gotta get your team shirt pic from the sporting goods store :teeth:

He could have done with these on our F&W Day

Aww bless, my knight in shining armour princess:

Time was up and it was dinner time at...
WDWTrip20101147.jpg

I had requested an outside table and our server lead us all the way to the back to a table right on the lagoon. Best seat in the house, we were so chuffed.

Our view
WDWTrip20101151.jpg

WDWTrip20101153.jpg

WDWTrip20101156.jpg

Not a bad view eh?

Cntd...

Time for drinkies :teeth:

I wanted a cocktail and asked our server which one was sweeter out of the English Rose and Welsh Dragon as I had seen pictures on the Dis and had to get one on this trip.

Our lovely CM recommended the English Rose and it was a great choice, very refreshing and sweet :)
WDWTrip20101160.jpg

Dave went for his Beer Sampler, can you remember which one is which?
WDWTrip20101161.jpg

I didn't go for a starter as I wasn't really feeling anything on the menu. Dave went for the Cheeseboard.
WDWTrip20101163.jpg

I'll let him tell you about it, but I know this much he loved it and polished the whole thing off!

We both got the same for our entree as we were both in the mood for...
WDWTrip20101164.jpg

Fish & Chips. It wasn't as good as last time, I feel like the Rose and Crown is a little dated now and could do with either a better menu or chef.

At this point it was under an hour until Illuminations and being the cheeky monkeys that we are, we asked our server if we could stay to watch the fireworks. The lovely lady that she was said yes and that it shouldn't be a problem :teeth: I must admit we did have a preferred viewings spot booked for tonight, but I doubt it would have been as good as the spot we had, so am glad we gave that up.

Time for dessert, I went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding.
WDWTrip20101172.jpg

It was good, but nothing special. I liked the custard, being a huge cake and custard fan.

I don't think Dave wanted a dessert, but our CM came out with a birthday surprise.

WDWTrip20101173.jpg

WDWTrip20101174.jpg

Not sure if it is the Chocolate Scotch Cake or just a normal brownie, but it was very rich.

Not wanting to just be table hoggers for the fireworks, we also ordered tea and coffee. Which turned out to be a good choice as it was starting to get quite nippy.

Illuminations was just about to start and we were very excited as we have never seen the show before can you believe!

WDWTrip20101222.jpg

WDWTrip20101225.jpg

It was a wonderful display and the music was very touching, but I have to say that Hallowishes is still my number one fireworks display out of all three.

After settling the cheque and making a quick loo stop, we walked the long way out of WS. It was nice to just stroll along, but it was still pretty busy. I love how the pavillions are all lit up, looks very romantic :)

WDWTrip20101273.jpg

It was at this point that I was sooooooo ready to go to bed. So we made our way to catch the monorail home. But low and behold it had broken down again and the line was just crazy! So we thought screw it lets get a cab. We walked down to the taxi rank and had just missed the last cab, so we waited thinking that another one would be along soon. After 10mins we were like what is going on, where are all the cabs?!? So we decided to give the monorail another try and by the time we got back up the ramp it looked like the monorail was up and running. Wrong! It had just started working again, only to breakdown! Disney seriously need to start putting more money towards transportation rather than new resorts because it is just a shambles! After another 10mins it finally started working again, to apologise the head CM gave everyone on the platform a FP for use anytime anywhere, a good start but not good enough considering everyone was waiting around at 11pm on a cold night just wanting to go to bed.

So all in all not a bad day, except for the monorail drama, which did not end there.

Stay tuned for Day 9 :)

Great update, Stefy!

I had to :lmao: because we both posted an update of our R&C days! :goodvibes

We had the Fish and Chips last time and I was not impressed. I was slightly disappointed by the Sticky Toffee Pudding too!
But don't you just love that English Rose, yum drink! :rotfl2:

I LOVE your Epcot pp photos and Dave's hook one. I have the same one of Tom!

Now, that Monorail issue is one more reason for us to rely on our own transportation. Just too many issues with buses and monorail. ;)

I can't believe you're going to DLRP tomorrow! :woohoo: Be prepared for some crowds, but enjoy the joy of the snow and the Christmas feeling! You are going to love it!

Can't wait for your little review of DLRP and your new pre-trippie! Maybe I should start mine for summer too! ;)

No parcel yet, but I will be on the lookout! Got your PM and will answer it later! :goodvibes

Love the Hook PP pic. I had no idea they did that!

Your view of Illimunations was awesome! I'm so jealous. ;)
