Sorry to be throwing so many questions at you today! We stayed at HOJO in May just for Castaway Cove. We're going in December & definitely wouldn't mind staying there again but worry it will be too cold for the kids to be swimming & then of course they will be bummed. I see that DI&S has indoor pools.

Any experience with HOJO in December?

Was there last December and will be this December and the pools are great. weather is fine in December

Not sure abt Anaheim, but it's purty durn 'chilly in Tucson during Dec.
Even if the pool is heated, they would have to dry off 'quick'. just my h.o.:confused3

Average temperature in December is about 60. Could be in the 70's or could be in the 40's, just depends on what it is like when you are there. I wouldn't count on swimming outside.

Now way would I expect to swim outdoors in December.......I don't do "cold" well....and that would be COLD!!!:lmao:

I would't count on it being warm enough to swim in december either but you never know. I think it also depends on where you're from and what your cold tolerance is. Sometimes people from cold climates (Canada for example) might think our 50 or 60 degree winter weather is quite warm!

You're so right! Being Canadian, my DH travelled to California in December a few years back and was loving the warm temps and couldn't figure out why people weren't basking on the beach and poolside! Cali weather in December is like summer in the prairies!!

We are coming to California this fall and can't wait to hit the pools on a daily basis!:woohoo:

:rotfl2: You probably wouldn't find me by a pool in december unless it was a heated indoor one. Yes, I'm a Southern California weather wimp and I admit it!

Hope you guys enjoy your upcoming trip and enjoy the pools! Fall is actually pretty warm until November so you should have great weather.

My first thought was...swimming in December...are you crazy!!! But it has to be in the 90s or warmer to get me into a non-heated pool.

We went to DL in december 2006 and we went swimming every single day. However we are from Idaho and it was snowing when we left so the California weather was much warmer than we were use to at that time. We don't start getting cold until it hits 30 or 40 degrees.

What about swimming outside in late October? Also remember I am Canadian!

We were at HoJo last Dec. (the first week) and our kids were in the pool everyday. They didn't last hours and hours, but would swim for at least 30-45 minutes. They even tried out the water slides and the kiddie pool - which was warmer than the garden pool, since it is only about a foot deep. The hot tub was really nice for the grown-ups. My little kids wouldn't get in it - it was too hot, but DH and I loved sitting in it while they were playing.

We just wrapped our kids up in the pool towels and hustled them to our room. One towel around their waist, folded over and one around their shoulders to keep them warm while we were walking back to the room.

We live in Utah, and it was high 20's - low 30's here and snowing, so high 60's were warm for us.

I am also from victoria and going late october staying at hojos....curious as well.

Well, if this October is anything like it's been the past few years then it should still be pretty warm. It seems like it doesn't start to really cool down until mid to late november but I've heard we might be having another El Nino year which means a lot of rain and I would think cooler temps but I don't know.

I can't imagine every going swimming in December, but I live in AZ and anything below 70 is pretty chilly to me. :)

I have gone several times in October, yeah it was 80 degree's but the pools were to cold to swim in. In december, no way, the hojo is colder then some pools I have been to, I would say no unless you want to get sick.

okay i DO just have to say, no hard feelings, but fact wise, the cold does NOT make you sick and its so annoying to hear that fact. if that WERE a fact everyone in snowy states would be darn near dead! LOL. the cold does not make you sick, you need germs to make one sick, however the colder you are the lower your IMMUNE system becomes, opening your body to illness more. but if you are a healthy person withought a compromised immune system, your chances of getting sick are still slim unless you run into a super bug. away from that note, i would swim if it were atleast 65 outside. BUT i have been in illinois the past 7 years and dang is it cold! talking -30 with windchill. so when we go in february im SURE ill be in the pool a couple times! lol its all about what you are acclimated to.

Ok, I think I will be too big of a wimp. I'm sure my kids will take a stab at it.

I see that DI&S has indoor pools. Do you know what other ones close to Disney also do? At this point, DI&S can't beat my HOJO rate.

LOL ok, so Im old and still believe deep chills and cold can make my imune system weak.... But thank you so much for your insight. I live in Montana ,I know cold, but again thank you sooooooooo much on the health update ;)

We were at HoJo's in June of this year and we thought the pool was freezing...especially the drench bucket area....although it didn't stop our 7 yr old from being in it for hours and hours! The only bummer is that there is really no other body of water for adults to be other than the hot tub and after about 20 minutes of that, stick a fork in me, I'm done! We even thought the garden pool area was a little too cool. The outside air temp was about 75 to 80 degrees. My favorite pool, for adults, is the Candy Cane Inn!
