Pools in early Feb?

I've trying to book our families first Disney World trip. This is the last year before my oldest starts school so I'm eager to pick a low crowd/cheaper time. I'm also eager to get a break from New England winters. But I'm starting to wonder if we'll be able to use the pools. It'd be great for DH to be able to take DS to the pool while DD naps in the afternoons.

I'm considering something in the first half of February. I know weather's unpredictable, but if weather is "normal" will we be up for using the pools?

THANKS.

We've been in early February several times. February 2009 had us dealing with record lows so pools were not in our plans...I think it was actually warmer in Massachusetts than it was at WDW! February 2008 was much milder; during the day we could have probably gone swimming, but we were at the parks so we didn't...and my DS was only 4 and half months at the time. Both trips were the first week in February. This is usually a great time to go crowd-wise though, unless it's during Mardi gras- we made that mistake once. It seems like the entire state of Louisiana congregates in WDW!:rotfl:
In our experience, typically this time of year is warm enough to swim during the day, especially for us Northerners!:lmao:

We were there in Feb. 2009. The kids swam several nights. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge...heated pools...I think.

We have gone in Feb the last 5 years and DD has always gone swimming. Of course, like you we are coming from the north, so high 60s and sunny with a heated pool is definitely swimming weather for us. This year it was probably the coolest year that we have had in Feb, but we still hit the pool a few times.

We went in late April and I found the pool to be too cold. But, I HATE cold water. There were a lot of swimmers though.

We were in WDW in early Feb in 2008 and we did not swim. It was all adults with an 18 month old so we did not have that itch or nagging to go. It seems that kids can handle the weather better and we saw many kids in the water, but not too many parents. :lmao:

We were there Feb 2-7th this year and FROZE!!!! The parks sold out of gloves one of the days we were there. It was warmer in TN than it was there.

We have gone in early February for the past three years, and regardless of the unpredictable weather, we swam every year.

February 2007 was perfect weather for us. Light jackets in the mornings, tank tops by afternoon. Our kids were 17 months and almost 4. Swam three or four days that trip. (Stayed at OKW.)

February 2008 was a heat wave. Beads of sweat on our faces by 10:00 a.m. Swam EVERY day of that trip. :-) Kids were 2 and almost 5. (Again at OKW.)

February 2009 was cold. Hats, gloves, and scarves required. We still swam on two of the days. Kids were 3 and almost 6. (Stayed at BWV.)

The resorts keep the pools heated in the low 80 degree range, I think. As long as you're in the water you're good. It's when you get out and that cool air hits you that it hurts! We brought the kids' bathrobes with us down to the pools and it worked great for the walk back to the room.

I would think, especially considering you're coming from The North, that you'll be fine in the pools.
