We are renting points and staying at the BCV. I know that we will have the option to use other resort pools, are there any restrictions other than the pool at AKL?
Yes, dvc members have never been allowed to pool hop to AKL.
that is the only one besides SALB.
that say without a membership card that says DVC (this is not the ID, key you will be given at the resort) member with your name on it - you might be asked to leave.
these are the dates when no pool hopping is allowed
June 27 - July 4, 2005

The DVC contracts specifically exclude renters from getting any DVC member perks, including pool hopping. However, in the past, as long as the room id stated "DVC Member", anyone could pool hop to all WDW resort pools except SAB and AKL.
Recently, DVC published a statement suggesting that members may be asked for the blue DVC memberhsip card- in addition to the room id - to have access to discounts and perks intended for members. Renters should be aware of this possibility before assuming that member benefits will be readily available. It can't hurt to ask - just be prepared for possible disappointment.
Also, the dates when pool-hopping is forbidden are not hard and fast. They can add other days, depending upon usage of the pool. There have been times when the pool is supposed to be closed, and it's open, too. Last December, the days leading up to Christmas were actually open because almost no one was swimming, for some reason.
