Pool use in December?

So I'm trying to decide between HoJo (our usual) and the new Marriott Courtyard next door on Harbor. We have reservations at both for 12/2-12/5. Our big draw to the new Courtyard is awesome watersides and pool area. My boys are 5, 8, and 10 and still love the pirate pool area at HoJo but when they saw the Courtyard they begged to stay there :-)

So, knowing you don't have a crystal ball to predict the weather, how likely do you think it is that the kids will be able to have a water play day during first week of December? It's about $85 more a night for the Courtyard and I don't want to spend that $$ unless we will really use the amenities.

Call and ask if they heat the pool. That would be a deciding factor for me. The daytime weather most likely will be great for swimming if they keep the pool heated, if they don't the water may be too cold from the night time temps.

That is the big question...weather! Last year we were there Nov 28-Dec 1. The first two days were fantastic weather wise - mid to high 70s, warm enough to swim for sure after several hours in the parks. It then rained off and on Sun the 30th and was low 70s on Dec 1st. I remember we felt lucky we left when we did because the next few days of that first week in Dec it rained pretty heavily. You just never know!
When do you need to cancel? I would keep both reservations, wait for the 10-day forecast then cancel one of them.

I know my crew will be in the pool.

At home in May/June when we go camping, they will swim in the lake. Water temp is COLD and the outside temp is usually mid 50's to 60's.

We'll be there the same dates. They love the heated pools in December! And I love the hot tub.

Good luck making your decision.

We plan on a pool day and pool breaks on our trip this Dec 8-16. Just be warned we stayed at the HoJo last Dec and of course without knowing in advanced (thanks a lot HoJo) the pool area at HoJo was closed- it was our only chance at a pool last trip and my DD was crushed to go down to find it closed- they didn't even tell us at check in! Anyway- as long as the pools are open you should be ok to swim- kids don't seem to mind some cold anyway lol (btw after the pool and having a broken shower and having a less then clean room on our last stay there- they actually had to comp our room it was so bad- I vote for the Mariott lol)

We were there the first week of December last year when it POURED for days. My son swam every day! Just make sure that the pool is heated. We were staying at DLR, the pool there is heated.
