This is not a pool hopping question. When we (DH , DD2 and me) are staying at a DVC hotel my parents like to drive in for a day and spend it with us. Well my dad is getting older and wandering around the parks is getting difficult for him. Is it okay, rule wise, for us to spend the day at our resort pool with them? Is it okay for them to bring their suits and swim with us? Provided the pool isn't at capacity of course. We aren't rude and don't want to break rules. Thanks

Except for pool hopping by DVC Members (when and where allowed), pools are for Registered Resort Guests only.

Okay if they can't swim then that settles that. Thanks. What about just hanging out at a table and having lunch and adult drinks? That's okay right? Sorry, I just want to know the rules. I don't like breaking them.

What IS legal though is adding them to your room. If you don't have the DDP, it's not a big deal. If if you are in a studio, with your 2 year old who doesn't count for room capacity, you could get 2 more keys.

I always max out our room keys, so our guests can join us at the pool.

Don't they charge for that? How would I do it? I am intrigued!

you are allowed 4 adults and one child under 3 in a DVC studio if you are staying on points (not sure how it works with cash). So you just add them to the room list; there's no charge.

Thanks and yes we are staying on points and no DDP. Love my fellow dis'ers and dvc owners! Always so helpful in understanding the rules .

Great! You should be all set then. Just call MS and add your folks to you reservation.

On cash I think there would be an extra adult room fee so it may not work quite as well. On points its free to do this!

Yes, your guests may use the pool while you are there. There will be no problem at all - even if they are not on your reservation.

Enjoy spending time with your family.

DVC resorts don't charge for extra adults. Same as Family Suites and the Cabins.

I'm surprised by your post Doc. I've seen you post something similar before. Why would non registered guests be permitted? I know at BLT and BCV it would be difficult when you need a KTTW card for entrance to the pool at BLT and to get access to SAB. But everything I've ever read indicates the pools are strictly for guests staying at the resorts at WDW. Here is what is says on the WDW website:
Please note that pools are for use only for Guests of that specific Resort hotel.

From personal experience and discussion with resort management, I know that Disney is (and always has been) happy to have day guests join family at resorts as their guests.

This has been the norm for years and has not been modified by DVC or Disney. Of course it's always wise to ask the lifeguards if it would be OK for the grandparents to enjoy spending time with their grandchildren for a few hours, but I know right now what the response will be and feel it important to share that position when this question is asked. Pool hopping is an entirely different issue, but that is not what the OP was asking here.

We have had family join us at our DVC pool during our vacations and some of them bought DVC because of their experience.:cool1:

Thanks WebmasterDoc. It still surprises me when Disney posts just the opposite on the WDW website. I would suppose if the pool is crowded guests of resort guests would be asked to leave.
