Pool toys in the resort pools?

Are they allowed? I'm thinking some small floaty things, maybe a ball or two. I'd rather not take them if we can't use them! We're staying @ POFQ if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

We stay at the CSR every year and we've seen kids with beach balls, plastic balls and nerf type footballs. I don't see why you can't use these types of things at the POFQ.

We have not had consistant information from the lifeguards. Somedays you can take things in and somedays you can't. It is up to the discretion of the lifeguards. I would love to see a written policy.

We saw many kids with pool toys at the POFQ pool. Beach balls/nerf type things in the big pool and little "kiddie" things (buckets, inflatable animals) in the baby pool.

We did see one group have their noodles taken from them, but this was only after about 5 warnings from the lifeguards. They were a really rowdy group (looked like 10-13 y/os) and they were swinging those things around pretty wildly and hitting other guests. That's the only time we've seen someone have pool toys taken from them.

Well, in all of Disney's advertising videos, they have people floating in swim rings. I've also seen vacation footage of Stormalong Bay with people in swim rings. I think it would be fine.

I agree that you shouldn't have a problem. At POP they even supply some toys-balls, noodles, etc.

Pool toys can be incredibly annoying to other guests. I watched one dad & son hit 5 different guests in the head with a nerf ball and they never GOT the fact that they were causing a problem. Ditch the toys and just enjoy the pool!

I agree the balls can get annoying an it's not fun gettin hit upside the head unexpectedly. Kids swinging the pool noodles around can be dangerous too those things hurt! Kids don't always do with them what they should.

But please please don't take my pool noodle away I love floating with it an relaxing.

If the lifeguards look out for the safety of all guests in the swimming pools, I see no reason not to allow pool toys, including balls. My dd and I purchase a new ball on each trip - the smaller ones which usually have the year printed on them. We have fun playing toss, and we've met so many other kids who want to play with us. :yay:

I'm disabled and can't move around a lot when I'm in the pool. This can get a little boring for my dd, who's not old enough to be too far away from me. A ball provides a little extra fun. We find a spot in the water that's not crowded and we don't throw it far or hard (we toss rather than "throw"). If it's really crowded the ball stays in the backpack.

I have witnessed people of all ages who throw balls and use other pool toys in an unsafe manner. Every guest has the right to feel safe in the pool. If the lifeguards do not react, it should be called to their attention. I'd probably talk to the guests myself and respectfully request that they find a safer location to play. Usually, when you use a friendly, positive approach with people, the response is positive, too, especially at WDW! :goodvibes

PS- If you're really nice and have a friendly smile on your face, it makes it much harder for the other person/s to ignore your request, including a lifeguard!!! :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

I was told that you are allowed balls and noodles but not inflatable toys that you lie on to float on. They don't like these as the life guards cannot see if anyone is underneath trapped

At POR they are sold in the general store, balls, those long tube things.
We bring those nerf water balls and frisbee each year, buy one of those tube things and leave it all for another family to enjoy!

People are appreciative and it makes ya feel good to see a kid smile!!

I don't know the Disney policy.

But I think that the reason that some pools have the policy is this: too many toys makes it hard to see people in a crowded pool. So while you may be perfectly comfortable lounging on your float, it may block the lifeguard's vision of the child behind you who is drowning.

I have read that if you bring your own swim ring, it has to be clear, not a solid color, for this reason.

When we were at ASMusic last month, kids were allowed to play with beach balls. But it wasn't very busy at the pool.

That being said, on a few occasions I did see the lifeguards stop children from entering the pool with floaty rings or arm floaties and give the kid a lifejacket to use instead. There was no rule about these posted, but it seems like they are able to use their discretion when it comes to issues such as this.

Pool toys and noodles are generally allowed.Large rafts and inner tubes are not .The lifeguards need to be able to see underneath to make sure there are no swimmers that need help and can not if there are ahuge rafts in the pool.Over at SAB they allow little pool toys, small floats for babies etc. No large tubes or rafts. They do offer large inner tubes for rent ( they are completely colorless and see thru with no pattern or design)to use on the lazy river ,but they don't let you bring them from home anymore

Thanks! I'm going to bring their noodles and maybe a little ball or two. If the lifeguard on duty decides it's a "no pool toy day", they'll probably survive!

I always get some rings you dive for and noodles at the Dollar Tree before we go. We have always used them (in a courteous way). We use them and then leave them with another family with kids when we leave since they didn't cost much. I have not seen anyone with large blow up floats.
