So we're doing a split stay and weather permitting are planning to do a water park on our move day. I don't usually pack pool towels and just use those dinky excuses of a pool towel from the resorts…but if we're MOVING from BCV to AKV that day am I allowed to take pool towels from BCV for the day and return them at AKV that evening or do I need to pack some from home? They don't offer "free" towels at the water parks do they?? TIA

I don't think you're ever "allowed" to take pool towels anywhere.

So are towels provided at the water parks?????

I see nothing wrong with what OP describes. They aren't stealing the towels. They are just using them for the day, no different than if they had stayed at the resort pool. It all goes back to the same laundry.

Hummm. We've always taken the resort pool towels to the water parks (2 pp since they are the size of hand towels) and then returned them to the pool towel return at our resort when we returned in the afternoon. I went ahead & stuck 3 lightweight beach towels in our stuff today when I packed just in case. I'm really trying to be conservative with my packing…didn't want to bring anything unnecessary….As much as I love a nice big plushy beach towel they take up too much room to pack for a trip….but at least the ones I'm bringing are LONG...

Just pay the few bucks and get the pool towels at the water park. Yes, in theory all the towels belong to Disney but you really shouldn't take towels that are inventory of one resort and drop them off at another for your convenience and to save a few measly bucks.

The towels all go to a central laundry. They dont belong to one resort or another. Just bring the pool towels from the first resort and you can leave them at the towel return at the water park if you like. They are all the same towels.

They may all belong to the same Disney umbrella but don't forget that Parks and Resorts are different profit centers. What does that mean to you? It means that the towels that you take from a resort and "drop off" at a water park will be replaced at the resort out of your dues. They are counted as losses at the resort and must be paid for to be replaced, even resort to resort. TANSTAAFL

First, even if someone actually inventories them and notices that BC is down a few towels, there is no way that missing towels from BC will be replaced out of dues. Most of the people using the pool towels there are resort guests not DVC. And I really can't believe that a resort specific inventory is done. The used towels get shipped to the central laundry, the laundry cleans them and returns them back to resorts. Yes over time, total inventory goes down and new towels must be purchased, but no one is going to waste the time to tie those to a specific hotel.

You are free, of course, to believe what you choose. It doesn't change the facts. There's a reason Disney makes money, and it's not from being sloppy. As insignificant as it may seem to you, your perspective would change if you ever saw the laundry facility.

I know for a fact that the resorts pay for laundering and that the laundry counts each item. To what extent charge back and tracking takes place, I don't know.

Every operation at Disney charges the other department for their services. Laundry charges each resort, house keeping charges each resort, security charges each resort, holiday decorations charges each resort. In the mix is anything that can be charged to DVC owners.

Taking BLT pool towels to SSR is how we keep our dues increases low

Good heavens - do what you want. They are towels at DISNEY WORLD. They can afford to relocate them. If the towel police chase you,....awww I got nothing - there is no towel police. Wishing you a fantastic trip - wet or dry

Wow, didn't mean to start such a debate over towel rights & wrongs. We have just always used our resort pool towels at the water parks and returned them to the pool towel return when we got back. Figured it was like using the DCL towels on CC. I just wasn't sure if we could take from one & return to another. I went ahead & packed towels to bring (against DH's wishes). I don't care if it is just "a measly few bucks" those dinky towels are not worth paying any amount of money to rent on top of the daily admission fee. It's not like they are nice or special or plush or anything.

Hello OP!

Just want to say, "Have a wonderful trip"!

You are doing my family's FAVORITE split - - BCV/AKV. We've done that four times. I'm sooooo jealous!! Lucky you!!

^ Thanks - planned for a pool day at SAB for at least half a day this morning but the weather down here is a little iffy. Of course 100% humidity but the rain chance is pretty high, starting earlier than usual (10-11:00 am). There's some front over the state that's not moving. Pretty overcast at the moment. :( Days sure fly by tho....
