Pool temp? Heated? Which resorts are best?

I have been to WDW at least once a year for the past 5 years and have not found a warm pool yet. Usually stay at POR (anytime between October and March) and it has been ice cold. Stayed at the Poly last November and it was frigid. I have been staying at WDW hotels for years, but never noticed this drop in water temperature until I had kids and started bringing them (5 years ago). They love to swim and a good portion of our vacation is spent swimming, but if WDW continues to have ice cold pools, I really can't justify staying on-site again. My next trip will be November/December of this year. Are certain resort pools heated better than others?

I have done some searching of old posts and found that at some point a few years back, WDW set pool temps between 78-82 degrees. Is this still the case?

Overplanning is a typical issue with many people on these boards, so I would steer you to select a resort based upon solid factors like, theming, locations, transportation, dining options, room size, etc. A simple dial controls the temperature of a pools heating element and is subject to change. I do not think this would be any different off-site either. There is no guarantee to what a temperature of any pool may be even if people want to declare their alway between temperature x and y. During this time of year I do think it is safe to say most pools are going to wake you up when you first enter the water (this is what we have always found during this time of year...year after year).

All WDW pools are heaed to 78 degrees. I have not heard that this has changed. We generally travel in January each year and can only swim on a couple of days. Unlike summer when you stay away from the pool in the heat of the day to avoid the sun, in the cooler months you have reverse the timing -- swim in the warmth of the day and avoid the mornings and evenings.

While the ambient temperature in Orlando stays warm in winter months, other factors contribute to how warm it feels. For instance, the humidity drops and the wind increases, both make you feel colder. Also children lose body heat faster than adults. Children also tend to play rather than swim. Burn more calories to maintain body heat. And finally, children do not recognize the need to stay mostly submerged and to keep wetting their heads -- both necessary when the outside air is not as warm and/or when it is windy.

We have a pool and I know what 78 degrees feels like. WDW pools are in the mid 80's When I have my pool at home at 78 degrees nobody wants to go in. When I heat it to 84 or 85 degrees the family loves it and and always say that it reminds them of WDW. Though I admit I do not know the exact temp of WDW pools I just know how feels to us.

I have to agree with you. Our pool feels frigid unless its in the mid 80's. I've never felt a Disney pool that cold.
