We have one of those easy-set pools and just got a solar cover for it. How are they suppose to fit?? Totally flat on the water surface and cover the "whole" surface??

I bought a 16 ft round cover and there are alot of wrinkles and I know it has to be cut down...it says in the directions that the sun may shrink it up some (we aren't expecting the sun til Friday:( )

I just dont want to screw it up and cut it too short....

Thanks for any advice

Lisa

HI Lisa L! It's been several years since we had a pool, but maybe the covers are still the same. Ours was blue with a smooth top and the bottom side was sort of a bubble texture. It just floated on top of the water with the edges as close to the sides of the pool as possible. We never had a shrinkage problem. Hope that helps.
You will be happy you have it with the way our Michigan weather has been so far. They really do help keep the heat in.:D

Thanks Faith....where in MI are you from?? Just wish it would stay warm!!!
Anyway, so are they suppose to be kinda like totally flat on the surface? We have quite a few actual "folds" and it is not flat at all.

What you described is just what it is.

Thanks
Lisa

HI again Lisa! We live near Fenton.
Our cover did seem to lay flat.
I don't recall it having a lot of folds. But, I think as you leave it on for a few days it will begin to fit better( if we ever get any sun it may become more pliable). I would definitely keep it cut close to the edges. That will allow less dirt to get in and keep the heat in.
:D

Hi Faith
My cousin used to live in Fenton. She lived on this private lake (can't remember the name) but it was beautiful! I think there was a big chunk of lake property that was the YMCA's or something like that...I don't know if you are familiar with what I am talking about.

Anyway, thats what I figured is to wait for our much needed sunny days and see what happens.

Thanks again
Lisa

eventually lay flat. BTW, if you keep it on when your pool is not in use, you will use less chemicals. The sun won't burn off the chlorine as quickly if it has to go through that solar "filter".

Hi fellow Michiganders!!!
I'm in Brighton but if I need to go to Kmart I drive to Fenton because it is soooo much nicer than the Brighton one!
Our pool's solar cover always laid mostly flat but instead of folding it we rolled it during the off season. That may eliminate future wrinkles, but as Faith said you want it to float as close to the edge as possible to keep the pool cleaner.

and it was huge......instead of cutting it we tucked it under the inside right up close to the blow up part.......we did enjoy the pool last year as it was our first attempt at this.......
