My daughter is 13 and loves to go swimming. She does not walk independently but holds onto our hand. She does go down our local swimming pool slide by herself but it is short and straight. I know at Disney there can only be one person going down the slide at a time. Because she is disabled would they allow me to go down with her. We are staying at the POFQ and their pool slide is long and curved. I would not be able to see her go all the way down and I dont want her to get hurt.

I was able to do it , but I think it is very much up to the life guard and if they believe it is safe (there final decision)

Just ask. I had one lifeguard tell me at the POFQ that it was a no, and another one came right over and she said yes.

I heard her whispering to him as I walked away that she could tell my son was "different" and I just wanted him to have fun. :goodvibes

My guess based on above posts is that it will depend on the lifeguard, how busy the pool is and if the lifeguard thinks a supervisor may be watching and "talk" to them later. A newer guard may be afraid to bend the rules, a more experienced one may understand just how far they can be bent. A busy pool will mean busy guards and not much room for flexibility. 50/50 chance.
