I've had two brain surgeries and a broken neck and I'm perfectly fine now but I take precautions. I haven't been in a swimming pool since everything because I'm worried about kids (and adults) jumping in on top of me. They don't intend anything, they are having fun and they have no idea about my history. But I was thinking, does Disney World allow jumping into the pools? I know diving is not allowed at any pool, just wondering about jumping in from the side. If it's allowed, no big deal. But I'd like to know if I should pack my bathing suit or not for next week.

Gee - you would think I would know something like this but it's never been an issue until now.

Thanks!

Is it allowed? Truthfully, I don't know. I don't recall ever seeing a sign for it. Is it done? Yes, I have seen it done at the pools. However, I'm not a huge pool lover, and I often just sit on the ledge to dangle my feet while reading a book or magazine (or having a pina colada! :worship: ). The main pools at the resorts that I have been at are large enough that they have never been that crowded so it might not be an issue. We stay at the CSR and most often use the quiet pool since we no longer have kids with us. We have seen kids jump in on occasion, but they are always at the more shallow end of the pool and if you are at a resort with a quiet pool you could go to the deeper end where there might nto be any kids. I think your best bet would be to see what happens when you get there unless another DIS member knows something I don't. I hope this helps a little.

Diving is not allowed (safety for the diver hitting bottom), jumping is.

Ive seen plenty of jumping (not diving) into the pools and lots of games being played in pools where kids jump around. I have never seen any cm's tell them this wasnt allowed. What resort are you staying at? If your staying at a mod or deluxe you can always stay in one of the quiet pools as they are usually less crowded. My Dh has had pools all to himself at times & he loved it!
My advise, take your bathing suit and enjoy. I am so glad that things are better now for you. :yay:

Hi Sheri! I'll be looking forward to your trip report (on the "other" mouse website) when you get back. Where are you staying this time? Have a great trip!

I'm not sure where you are staying, but I would pack my suit if you are at a resort with a quiet pool. Honestly there are like the best kept secret at WDW. The most people that we have ever encountered in a quiet pool would be one other family. The majority of the time we have the entire pool to ourselves.:goodvibes

Definitely bring your suit! Depending on when you are going, you may find a time when the pool is nearly empty!

Also, if you're in a pool that is zero entry, maybe you could stay away from areas where kids could jump in, or there may be no edges at all! Also, many pools have slides, decorative rocks, etc. built on the sides of the pools, so you may be able to find an area of your pool where the edge is not accessible, so you could stay there and be comfortable.

hope you find a nice place to swim!

Our daughter wasn't quite 2 when we were at FQ last April and she didn't like getting splashed in the face. I had a difficult time being in the pool with her because kids of all ages were jumping into the pool. (she was happy in the kiddie pool)

When I swam alone, I would have to constantly keep moving to avoid kids and adults playing catch etc.

I second the quiet pool suggestion and/or "off hours" at your resort's main pool. Best of luck with your recovery.

I should have said I'm staying at Pop Century. That's kind of why I was concerned. Even the quiet pool there is not that quiet. But there is a kiddie pool that I can enjoy. I'll take the bathing suit and see what happens.

Wendy3 - trip report is already started.

To everyone - thanks for the advice and the good wishes. I am as "normal" as possible. When you look at me, you can't tell about the surgeries or that I'm walking around with a broken neck. So I enjoy what I can do and accept what I can't do.
