What do you do when your chlorine is too high?

Even after we got our water tested and the all clear this year, our above-ground pool just wasn't holding it's chlorine level.

So we had it tested again, and the guy said it was probably because of all the pollen this year, and had us "super-shock" it - using way more shock than usual.

Now it's not dropping back to a normal level, and it's been 2 days! It's hot here, and I want to be able to have people over to swim.

Any ideas?

Not much you can do...Let it burn off, add more water..

Do you have a pool cover? If so, remove it and let the pool "air out" so the sun, air and heat can burn off the chlorine.

It's not covered, so it will definitely get some sun.

I have the vaccuum on right now, because I could actually see a little powder on the bottom. So hopefully that will help, too.

Thanks for the suggestion to add water. There is room for a little more, so I'll do that as soon as the vaccuum is done.

Dump some water and add some more, which will dilute it (although the "fresh" water will have chlorine in it, just not as much). Otherwise just letting the pool breathe is about all you can do. The chlorine will naturally go down.
