Pool question?

I have a question. We got an exchange into OKW for this summer with our other rs property. We are currently under contract for DVC points. I had heard that you would have pool priveleges at any of the resorts once you are a member. Are there restrictions or circumstances when Disney would not allow this such as filled to capacity times of year? Do we just show our membership cards?

This is our first trip staying on property in a DVC and would love to spend a little time at the pools of a couple other resorts. Kind of like a scouting trip.;)

There are holiday black out times, and you may be asked to leave if the pool areas are near capacity. You may not hop to Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas pools or Yacht Club/Beach Club pools. Also, you must be staying at a DVC resort on DVC points. I may be wrong, but I do not think staying on an exchange, even of you are members, is technically supposed to give you pool hopping privileges.

Chuck is correct, pool hopping is a perk for DVC members only who are registered guests and staying on points.

While it may be a bummer, I'm sure you'll agree that it's the only fair thing.

Pool hopping is a "Member's" benefit. It does not apply to non-members, either via an exchange or by renting a reservation.

Likewise exchangers/renters are not eligible for any other "Member" benefits such as discounts on annual passes, free valet parking, restaurant discounts, and so on.

Congratulations on your future purchase.

I understand perfectly. But since we know nothing of the DVC resorts other than what is on the internet it would be great to get a peak and in July, a pool stop would be much appreciated. We also own Marriott and have day priveledges at our home resorts wether we stay there or not. I was simply trying to get a handle on how DVC handles this same thing.

You are only eligible to pool hop as a member when you stay on points at a DVC resort. Just the fact that you are a DVC member does not entitle you to pool hop. There are a few pools that are not open for pool hopping at any time - AKL/AKV pool/s (only one right now) and the YC/BC/BCV pools that include Stormalong Bay. During holiday times, a week or more at a time, pool hopping is blocked out to members. So DVC is different from Marriott since we do not have day privileges at our home resort at all times.

Are DVC members allowed to hop to any Disney resort pool, or just to DVC pools? (except those exclusions as already stated)

You can hop to any Disney pool, except those located at Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas or Yacht Club/Beach Club/BCV.

if a dvc member is staying on points, but is also hosting grandparents, for example, is everyone in the dvc member's party welcome to pool hop WITH the dvc member? just curious as to how dvc members with guests are handled...

All the people staying in your villa with you are allowed to pool hop with you.
