Pool question for Moderate resorts

Hello!! I'm pretty psyched because, according to the Disney site, it wouldn't be all that much more to go with moderate resort over a value:-). We will be traveling with four little ones, and I really liked the idea of the Caribbean Beach resort because of the beaches. It would be nice having that gradual entry..especially for my 1 and 3 year olds. But then I was reading about how that resort is just too huge, and may be too much for them to handle. Another reason I had chosen that resort was that the room sizes were listed as larger than the others, using the allears site, but in the Unofficial Guide, they are listed as the same size. Does anyone know if the CB resort rooms are slightly larger?

Do any other moderate resorts have a "zero entry" pool (gradual slope)? That would make pool outings so much easier than dealing with 2 non-swimmers in a typical pool setting:-).

Thanks. :wave2:

Yes the rooms at CBR are slightly larger than the other moderates. For me though not enough that it makes a difference in choosing my moderate resort.

Even though there is a beach at CBR, you are not allowed to go in the water. You may only swim in the pools.

None of the moderates have zero entry pools, but they do have kiddy pools for the real young ones. :flower:

I don't believe any of the value or moderate resorts have zero entry pools.

I am assuming it's two adults and the four children staying? If that's the case, I don't believe one room at a mod can accomodate your family. You might be better off taking two connecting rooms at a value, which gives you the extra beds, tv and bathroom. No zero entry, but a lot more room for your family.

Yes the room is larger at CBR. No zero entry pool. Swimming is not allowed in any lakes on Disney property.

CSR has a really nice kiddie pool next to the big pool, surrounded by plenty of beach loungers. The nice thing about it is that some of your party can swim in the big pool while the others are in the kiddie pool, and then switch out. The kiddie pool is in full view of the big pool, and is near the slide exit, so signalling for the switch would be easy, and you can still watch eachother come down from the slide :)

CSR is spread out, but offers an internal shuttle and 4 bus stops. The nice thing is that the main building bus stop is the last stop before leaving the resort, so you can even hop on to the bus closest to your station, and get a ride to the main buiding that way too.

We really loved CSR. Although my kids were older (8 & 9), I wouldn't have hesitated to stay there even with little ones. With the buses and internal shuttle, the dig site pool and playground, the quiet pools, bunnies, hammocks, not sharing bus service with any other resort, not to mention the atmosphere, it was wonderful.

Good luck in making your choice! :goodvibes

stay at POFQ. Greatly designed pool. Has dragon slide in it. And resort is smaller than others. Easier for you to get around with kids that young.

We stayed there when our kids were 4 & 5. They absolutely loved it.!

Thank you all for your suggestions:-).

Yes, we will be traveling with 2 adults, and 4 children (9, 6, 3, 1). I forget which one, but one of the moderates would fit five plus the infant. But I can't even imagine trying to cram all of us in one room!! So, we would get two connecting rooms at either a value or a moderate. I have to decide of the moderates will be that much more impressive than a value. It's only about a $300 difference.

I'm SO GLAD you told me about not being able to swim at the "beach". Boy would we have been disappointed. That was going to be a deciding factor, so I'm back at square one. Luckily, so many of you have offered your advice and suggestions. I may be more inclined to go with something smaller, so it won't take us so long to walk everywhere. I'm sure we'll be frequenting the food court. Luckily, we'll also have a car, so I'm sure (at least I assume) that there are parking areas close to the various areas of the resorts.

I thought I had eons of time to decide (not until October), but it sounds like AAA packages need to be booked fairly early. Oh well...at least it's a happy kind of stress:-). I'm probably already driving dh crazy...and he's got to put up with me until October LOL.

Thanks you all for your help!

Even though you can't swim there, the beaches are still nice. White sand, hammocks or somewhere to sit while your kids play in the sand.

There are also some very nice playgrounds on the beach at CBR. You might want to look at my pictures listed below. I have pictures of all the buildings, pools, playgrounds, etc.

IMO - I think that POFQ would be a great choice.

The dragon slide is great fun for small children.
The pool is small because the resort is small.
The grounds are much smaller than any other value/mod.
Ask for a building close to the pools/food court area.

Though if you are going to get 2 mod rooms you might consider either a cabin at FW or a deluxe room at a deluxe I would think the price should be close.

AKL - Fabulous 0 entry pool
WL - Nice kiddie pool small size resort (great transportation options)

Good luck in making your choice!
