Pool privileges for POFQ guests only-how strict are they?

I read a thread several months ago about a mother planning a birthday party at SAB, so, they do offer it there! I believe the hosts were spending the night, but no other guests were. (they were all florida residents)

Actually they don't offer it at SAB either. Disney does offer areas for group parties but pools are not one of them. The problem with any of this, is guests call and get the Call Center and as I have said before they literally could care less and are not in the position to give permission for a group event.

Disney does have a department for group events. They offer parties also at the minature golf courses. Disney loves doing group events but they want you to pay for them, not have them free somewhere you are going to anger paying guests.

I remember that post. The mom had spoke to someone at Disney (can't remember who)and said she would only have a few people over. She then invited a huge mob. I wonder what ever happened?

Initially she called the Call Center and she was told it was ok, only to find out that meant she could have the number of guests allowed for her unit which was 8. She was not allowed to have a large group party. Disney has a special department that handles group parties.

As someone said Disney does want you to get together and have parties but they do have guidelines for that and the pool of a resort where guests are not staying is not an option.

Can you imagine the chaos at a pool as small as POFQ if two people decided to invite an extra 20-30 people to the pool.

1) It sounds like you want to cheat the system.
2) Hold a pool party, even to the point of including people not staying on-site.
3) Just to save a few dollars.
4) I think you know better.

Wow, after all these mean replies to a very innocent question, it makes me want to break some rules just to annoy the uptight people!

1) I think you can find a nicer way to state your opinion.

I haven't read the entire thread, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned! POFQ is, I believe, the smallest resort on property and subsequently has one of the smallest pools (and only has 1 pool while most others have about 3). If the POFQ pool is taken over so to speak by a large group, actual guests of the hotel only have the option of going over to POR (which is a sister resort, so POFQ guests CAN hop to there), which is about a 15 minute or so walk. POFQ has no quiet pools or similar, the main pool is their only option without going to POR.

I feel sorry for the OP. He posted on the dining thread about this group and was told a resort would be a better option. Then he's told DTD is a better option. I wonder what will be wrong with DTD. :rotfl: Seriously, my objection to it is the safety of the toddlers. A pool is a place you can't be distracted when you have kids. There is so much fun stuff for them to do at DTD, they'd have a much better time there. They could eat at Mickey D's. Visit Legoland and Once Upon A Toy. There's even a little train for them to ride. They could do pics by the Christmas store too. There's a cute little scene to the side.

Like the above poster said, putting aside the fact that POFQ is small, pool hopping isn't allowed, etc. the number one thing is safety. With 6 toddlers, playing and running around at a pool that might very well be crowded is super dangerous. Even if every child there has a parent watching them, someone could still get hurt and then who would be responsible? If something happened ultimately Disney would be blamed at some point, so if for no other reason than safety I can't imagine disney would be okay with this party idea.

Good luck finding something your entire group can enjoy, disney is great with big groups and this thread has given some great suggestions for your party already.

McDonald's at DTD might be ok, but everytime I've been to Earl of Sandwich it has been very crowded inside and out. And trying to keep track of all of those kids at DTD may not be very easy. POFQ outside eating area consists of just a few tables in a row along the building. November is not a busy time and I'm sure the pools won't be busy.

I've never, in 16 trips, been carded at a pool. And our last trip we stayed at BCV and went to SAB. But you probably don't want to chance it.

Disney has a number to call for large groups, 25 or more, and they will put together virtually any kind of gathering you want. I called them 2 yrs ago when we had a family reunion. PM me if you want the contact information.

This makes me very happy to be a DVC member! We have a pool party/cookout at one of the quiet pools at a DVC resort each trip. Usually we are scattered at different DVC resorts and get together at one, so there isn't an offsite issue. I know, just pool all of your money, buy DVC, stay onsite and have a blast!

To the OP: It sounds to me that you might be a little worried about the kids more then anything distubring other guests and so on....... to that I have to say... DONT WORRY!!! You are in WDW. There are kids everywhere of all ages. Your not going to some upscale place and if that was the case I can understand people becoming worried.

As for the pool situation, as far as I knew, when we stayed at POR pool hopping to POFQ was allowed. For the people that arent staying between those two resorts it would be a problem for them to enjoy the benifits of staying there. I wouldnt risk the chance of having something go wrong.

So my suggestions are for the families that are staying on property at those two resorts, they have those quiet pools all over POR and when I was there in November my DH had pools all to himself. You can do something secluded like that but then the other familes wouldnt be able to enjoy the fun.. OR
at the POLY they have something called the Neverland club; and I think that would be a great thing that all of you can split and enjoy together. I also think that you can get a character to come and visit the party. :) how fun would that be for the kids!!! :)
