Going to DW in May and staying @ Poly. I promised my kids to include plenty of pool time dailey. How warm is the water? If we run out of time in the afternoon is swimming in the eve (8 - 9 pm) an option or is it too cold?

The pool is heated and I know many that swim in December at the Polynesian. Also there is a lifeguard from 10:00-10:00 (I believe are the hours in May). We usually are there July and the hours are 10-12 but you can still swim after the lifeguards are gone.

Go to my page and click on the pool page for photos and info.

in Feb. and the pool was heated quite well. I was pleasantly surprised. However, when you got out of the pool....oh my! Freezing. In fact, this was our first Feb trip - never again! I like it to be hot when I'm in Florida - or at least lukewarm.

The pool is great!

My DD11 can't wait to swim in the pool in May. That's the main reason we're splitting our stay there.

thanks for the info... this gives us more flexability as far as trying to fit it all in.

yes it is zero entry.. which i'm excited about because we're going in august and my dd will be 7 months old.. :)

When we stayed at the Poly our little guy was 10 months and adroed the zero entry end! I am a sissy about being cold and spent huge amounts of time in the water. It will be great!

I believe May will be quite warm, even in the evenings. I recall our hottest trip was the 3rd week in May one year. It reached the 90's every day with at least 1/2 our week reaching the mid-90's. Between the weather and the heated pool, you will have nothing to worry about except what fruity drink to order while you are lounging at the pool!
Have fun!!!

May is an excellent time for swimming!!

We're leaving on April 30th and I absolutely cannot wait!!!

We were there last in December and the kids were only able to swim 2 or 3 days.

Ta ta for now!!!

We go for the first two weeks of May every year and it is HOT. The last 3 years it has been in the 90s. We also go in October but look forward to all the pool time we get in May. We only stay at the Poly because we love their pool so much. You are going at a perfect time because all the of the camillias are blooming around the pool in May and the smell is just heaven scent! I will be down there in 30 more days and can't wait!

Last year we visited the second week in May and temps outside were around 95 degrees. The pool was a welcome relief! Walking along the sidewalk to the pool, you could still feel the heat at 10 pm at night. The pool is wonderful!!!!! My boys want to stay there again just for the pool. The volcano slide closed around 6:30, but it is alot of fun, and the zero entry was what my two year old enjoyed best. Have fun!

you may or may not need this info while you are down there in may but all Disney resort pools are heated or cooled to about 80 degrees all year

I was looking at the poly pool in the ALLEARS website and it looked a bit small compared to other main pools at other resorts. Are the pictures deceiving?

Thanks

Autumn

Also interested in Poly pool. Didn't know about zero entry-that is really cool for the little ones who want to be in the big pool. Another question-is there a sandy beach anywhere at the resort? The kiddies want to play in the sand. Thanks for the info!!

Yes there is a large sandy beach for the kids to play on. It is great in that you can sit on the beach and see your kids at the pool or on the beach as they are that close to each other. We love it there. Fortunately they have been cracking down on people that are not Poly guests so it makes it less crowded for us fortunate resort guests! When are you staying at the Poly? We are going in under 4 weeks and can't wait!

There's a high degree of likelihood that you'll wish the water was even a bit cooler in May. Like other posters said, the mid-day temps pop up into the 90's periodically.

To SKIWEE1, thanks for the info! I am not sure we will be able to go to the Poly, brought it up to DH (think Grumpy) last night, and he whined about $. Is the Poly ever included in the BBY discounts? He is thinking ASR, which are nice enough, but no slide in the pools. So I may have to go with a moderate resort. Would love to get a good price at the Poly, though. And after all, I deserve it. (and I make the reservations and don't tell him how much it costs!) Not going until October, so I have time to wait for some deals. Have a great time, I know you will-so envious.....

Lindajo, the Poly is pretty much always included in the public codes that come out. There usually aren't a lot of rooms available with the codes but they are included. I've stayed at the Poly 4 times in the last 2 years always using either a code or an AP discount so I know it can be done. Unfortunately I couldn't get a discount for my trip next month because the Poly was sold out completely. I'm stuck paying more then I'm used to but it's worth it to us.
