I was wondering if anyone brought their own life vest for their child to use around the pools. I saw in one of the navigators recently that they do provide complimentary pool vests that can be found near the pools but I'm really familiar with my dd's that we use around here when she goes near pools. Is it a waste to pack? Just she will be turning 5 on her first cruise and even though I'm hoping to have her swimming by then I still will require she has one when playing near any of the pools. TIA

As long as it's Coast Guard approved. This is from the DCL website:

The following items are permitted but with the following restrictions:
  • Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices (PFDs) and flotation sewn into the bathing suit for safety. However, recreational floating devices such as floats, rafts and fun noodles cannot be brought on board and are not permitted in the pools or on Castaway Cay.

Life vests available onboard at the pools:

Ok NOW I feel better, Thanks so much Disney Fantasy and PrincessSmhmoo!!!! Another item I dont have to pack (more room for stuff from shopping at ports!!!)

We packed ours...we ended up using theirs. It was not fun trying to drag our wet vest back to the room without making any floors wet/slippery.

We always bring our own. That way when you go to Castaway Cay you already have them!
