It's essentially a non functional perk and it's one that could be removed completely or it could later be removed for resale buyers but kept for those with qualified points. I'm surprised it's made it this far but they've obviously taken the approach to remove it without removing it.

It also is very lightly used, requires zero cost to provide, and gives them one more marketing bullet point. I don't see why they'd bother to remove it other than for the very popular pools like SAB.

At this point, it's more that when they do something with a pool or resort, the pool leaves the list.
Poly? Nope.
Wilderness Lodge? Nope.
Among the MK-area pools, the 'open' pools are now CR (not BLT) and Grand Floridian. At Epcot, it's the clown pool and leisure pool at BW. AK is a no-fly.
I suspect the hop demand for the mod pools is fairly low. If they add DVC at CBR, I'd expect both the CBR main pool and any pool they add to be no-hop.
It's just like any other promotion, including disneystore.com (and most other major retailers). "25% off ALL ITEMS....except for this 723-category list that prevents you from using it on anything of actual value other than t-shirts and chotchkies that are already marked up 9000% to begin with"
IMO DVC is doing away with pool hopping. Instead of just taking something away, they slowly modify it until no one cares when it disappears. The reason will be "due to member feedback" or "due to lack of interest" or they won't give a reason, just not mention it.

I've personally never done it b/c I don't want to go through the hassle of getting on Disney transportation when I can just walk 100 yards to the nearest pool. Seems like a huge waste of time. If my kids were older I might consider it, but with toddlers it is just too much effort for the payout.
