Hi everyone!

How does pool hopping work? If we're staying at VWL on our points and we want to go to, say, the pool at OKW, do we just go to OKW and start using the pool? Or do we register somewhere to get some bands or something?

Also, I know there are some pools that members can't pool-hop to - but if someone can tell me which pools these are specifically, that would be appreciated!

Thanks and happy memorial day to our friends from the south!

You can't pool hop during a large part of the summer (and holidays as well)- I'm guessing by your ticker your vacation falls into that time frame - I don't have the blackout dates handy, but I'm sure someone will post them for you.

Pools restricted from hopping are Stormalong Bay and the pool at AKL.

From the Spring issue of Disney Files:

As a reminder, pool hopping isn’t available at
Uzima Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Stormalong
Bay or leisure pools at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Due
to expected high occupancy, pool hopping won’t be available at
any Walt Disney World Resort hotel Feb. 15-21, April 4-18,
May 22-25, June 28-July 5, Sept. 4-7 and Nov. 23-29, 2009, and
Dec. 13, 2009-Jan. 3, 2010. Please remember that the poolhopping
perk is available only to Members staying at an eligible
Disney Vacation Club Resort. Complete details are available in
Portable Perks and at www.dvcmember.com.

Thanks Deb - I actually thought it was a lot more summer dates than what you posted. If I wasn't so lazy, I could actually pool hop on my upcoming trip! Oh no, I'm not staying on points anyway, so scratch that (personally I could never take the time to pool hop - way too much work)!

Thanks Deb! Our summer trip starts on July 5th, so we should be fine to pool hop the day after...

Allowing pool hopping is great not only for the pool hoppers, but also for the people who are in the parks while the pool hoppers are hopping. I say this because anyone who is pool hopping is not in the parks, and therefore there are less lines on the rides.

You just go to the pool and use it. Be sure to have both your room key and blue membership card with you. You probably won't need them, but it never hurts to have them.
