Does anyone pool hop and if you do how do you do it? Do you just walk into the front door of the resort with your bathing suits underneath your clothes and go to the pool? It all seems pretty awkward anyway. Oh and one more, are you limited to only DVC resorts (isn't SAB excluded though) or can you go to say CSR?

It is awkward, IMHO, which is why I don't typically do it. Most of the pool areas do have changing areas, but I find that awkward as well.

Stormalong Bay (at the Yacht and Beach Club) is typically excluded, and sometimes so is Luna Park (at the BoardWalk). I've never read about an exclusion from CSR, however literature does advice that you call and ask before going over. That would always be prudent, as the exclusions aren't necessarily published in advance. It would a shame to truck all the way over there just to be turned away.

SAB is excluded and some listings say all BC pools as well as AKL being excluded. All the rest are potentially available but there are periods of time when all PH is stopped. I'd agree with bicker but put it more strongly. One is technically required to call to check availability prior to attempting to PH and it's subject to capacity and the individual resorts interpretation thereof. You can even call and be told OK, only to arrive and be turned away. Or you could be OK when you arrive and be asked to leave 30 minutes later. I do believe all pools have a changing area fairly close by.

Not only is SAB excluded, but all YC and BC pools are excluded, along with AKL pool (there is only one there). Then you have the blackout times around holidays and busy times, like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, etc.

We used to hop over to SAB when we first joined at OKW before they opened BVC. It was the reason we bought over at BCV. We have only hopped a few times since, mostly to WL, but it has been a few years since we did hop.

CSR does have a nice pool there. We stayed there for a couple of nights once before we moved over to our DVC villa and liked the pool.

We usually pool hop once per stay... We don't find it too awkward, and just use whatever changing facilities are available at that resort...

We don't usually call the "front desk"... Too often.. The "front desk" is the Disney Call Center and the agents have no idea if the pool is near capactity. :confused3

You may be better off checking at the hospitality desk when you arrive at the resort. (Though sometimes the CM's there have not heard of this DVC "perk" and you may have some explaining to do to make them understand.) Most of the time, the CM's just wave you on....

Usually, we make a day adventure out of it... We pack our suits, transfer using the Disney transportation system, and spend the day swimming... We usually eat one or two meals at that resort and I spend some time by the poolside bar. :drinking1 We also shop at the resort sundry shop for whatever souveniors are unique to that store...

As stated before.. There are set blackout periods.. Also any resort reserves the right to say "no" based on availibility... Also.. YC&BC and AKL are off limits.. You want to swim in the pools there, you need to stay at the resort.
