Understood that pool hopping is not allowed, however, I thought I read here that guests of DVC could do this? Is this just DVC owners or can guests staying on rented points hop? I'm staying at the BWV and would love to see the pools at YC/BC....please, this is a question, not an invitation to be flamed. LOL

If you're using DVC points then you can pool-hop, except at certain busy times of the year.

The bad news is that now that the BCV have been built, no one can pool-hop to Stormalong Bay any more. You can go over and look and hang out, but you can't swim. They'll check your resort I.D.

Regretfully even staying on points DVC members can't hop to SAB.

As far as other pools, if you are renting points, technically you aren't supposed to, but I do'nt think you'll be questioned, as your card will read "DVC Member".

If you really want to swim in SAB, perhaps the owner you are renting from can change the reservation to BCV?

(And no flames here--a perfectly legitimate question :) )

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure my butt was going to be sizzled.LOL. Damn, really wanted to take a dip in SAB but it is more important to stay at the BWV with my friends. Guess I'll have to be happy with the Bozo slide!!!

Just an FYI--The quiet pool at the BWV in the early morning hours is one of favorite Disney things. There's often no one else in it but a couple of ducks, and maybe a lap swimmer. Bring the towels from your room, they usually don't have them out early. It's so peaceful and quiet, very relaxing :)

FYI -- The other on-site pool that is permanently off limits even to DVC hoppers is the AKL pool.

I think there are blackout periods as well when pool hopping is not allowed. The Luna Park pool is quite nice - sure it's not SAB but it is a very good pool in it's own way

Thanks

We just came back from the BC and guests of the hotel were required to wear neon green wrist bands for entry into the pool. They told us absolutely no one other than registered guests of the BC/YC could swim there.

We'll be at BCV in September, renting points from a DVC member. So you all are saying we can walk over and try Luna Park? We just need to bring our room keys?
My DD thought the slide a Luna park looked great!

diathoney,
As long as your key says "member" on it you can pool hop subject to restrictions. The main restriction is that if the resort where you want to go is packed to the gills they can stop pool hopping. So they routinely stop it times like 4th of July etc. Also, if the pool gets very crowded with resort guests you can be asked to leave.

As has been noted you can only use the pool at the YC/BC if you are staying there either on points or as a cash guest and the AKL pool is not open for pool hopping.

Personally, in all my numerous stays at Disney on my DVC points I have NEVER hopped, just WAY to much trouble. Haul your gear from point A to point B, haul it back etc....

Great! Thanks for the info CarolA!

We'll just put on our suits and walk over to the BW - no gear to carry. I'm sure they have pool towels available. DD & DS can try out the slide. Of course after SAB, they may not be interested! SAB is the reason we're staying at BCV (and because Epcot is my favorite park!)

That is a great slide :)

Since you are staying at BCV you can also go to Stormalong Bay, which has an amazing slide. Your DD (and you) will have so much fun!

It's a long walk to the BW from the BC. I'd take the boat.

Cheers :)

For a normally healthy and mobile individual it is not a long walk--it's five minutes or so, about the length of three or four longer city blocks. You could walk there and back twice in the time it takes to take the boat.
