Why aren't you allowed to pool hop in BLT and AKL and the other ones? Thanks Joe

I would guess that for BLT it is because of the small size of the pool compared to the number of units and AKL may be the same reason (even thought the pool is larger there are more units.

For Storm-Along-Bay it is becuase of the huge crowds at the pool most of the year from the resort guests (again if you think about the size of the pool compared to the number of rooms it serves it can't really hold more people at many times.

The rest of the quiet pools at the yacht and beach I am guessing becuase it is easier to say you can't hop to any of the pool at the resort rather than trying to define which pools are off limits as I have never seen more than a couple people at any of these pools.

That is just my opinion though- it could be for a totally different reason.

I think for BLT it is also a security issue, since BLT is suppose to be a secure resort.

I think that BLT and AKV pools are off limits to pool hopping because they are so small. After staying at each resort several times, we find that we always have a hard time finding a lounge chair when we visit. If you do find an open lounger, it is always in the sun, never in the shade. About the only way that we have ever gotten loungers is to go to the pool first thing in the morning, or after a rain. The BLT pool and the KV pool are much too small for the number of villas in their respective resorts.

I think the same could be said of the WL, SSR and OKW pools too. I'm sure Disney has some rationale but they have never shared it.

They used to say that AKL pool was off limits (even before AKV was built) because they couldn't have too much of a crowd disturbing the animals. :rotfl2:

I think it is because BLT and AKL could be more of a "destination" pool. BLT because is it so close to the MK and it could be very tempting to pop over for a dip, AKL because the resort itself is a unique experience and it could seem like a good idea to make a day out of visiting the resort and using the pool.

hey stayed at OKW several times and we were the only ones even using one of the quiet pools.

Yea - we would all be there to see the animals not to pool hop.

BLT is a secure system. even staying there you need your room key to get to the pool.
have complained about this - but it seems most BLT owners like it. So DVC is not changing it.

think the pools at BWV are too small for the number of guests also. they are never empty - unless it is too cold.

bcv's pool is really too small as well - but since it can share with SLB - then it is fine.

think Disney is just following the other timeshares in Orlando - which do build pretty small pools for their many guests.

I WOULD TEND TO BELIEVE ITS THE VOLUME OF PEOPLE AND THE SIZE OF THE POOL. :goodvibes

I believe you can hop at the yacht club and beach club hotel quiet pools. Just not the DVC pools there.
As noted, all pools are off limits at the destinations in question. Unfortunately DVC has been inconsistent in their listing the info. The current listing on the website suggests it's less restrictive than it is.

As for the reasons for the restriction, I think it's a combo of things that are mostly related to volume and the experience of the guests ate the destinations involved.
