Pool Hopping at SAB

Is SAB excluded from DVC member pool hopping privelege?

Yes and the pool at Beach Club Villas is excluded as well.

Also excluded :
pools at Animal Kingdom Resort and AK Villas and Bay Lake Tower's pool.

Check member website for latest updates and to find latest dates pool hopping may be blocked-out ( typically during high occupancy times ).

:)

This is true.... however we were just there this past February and due to the clown pool rehab we were able to go over and use the pool at Yacht and beach club!

Whenever the Luna Park pool at the Boardwalk is closed for refurbishment that's the only exception when guests not staying at the Yacht Club/Beach Club can swim at SAB, because they will let in guests staying at the Boardwalk Inn/Villas.

It sure is. And they enforce it.

I beg to differ. I have stayed at the Yacht Club twice during the last year for business conferences and during each visit had plenty of time at SAB to observe the (NOT) ironclad "security".

The entrance towards the beach/yacht boundary was at best manned 30% of the time while I was in the pool during busy mid to late afternoon periods. I repeatedly saw scores of people walking in who received no guest I.D. check whatsoever, grabbed a towel, threw it on a chair and jumped right in.

And I know for a fact that others at the conferences I attended who were staying over at the Swan/Dolphin walked right in to SAB numerous times (two of them once joined me in the lazy river!)

Yep, they sure do "enforce" the no-hopping policy

I am not arguing that this was the case for you...
But we were at BCV in November and they checked all of us, even my 7 yr old, every time we went to the pool.
So, it seems you can head over and give it a shot, but you might be wasting your time....
ETA - and they gave us wristbands...

Have the wristbands they gave you been a different color each time?

Yes. We spent 8 days there last year, and I know that on Day 5 we were still getting a different colored wrist band each day (DD never took them off & you can clearly see 5 different colored wristbands on her in our scrapbook pictures that were taken on our 5th day there).

I find that they strictly enforce the policy during the day, but tend to be more lax in the evening when the crowds have lessened. YMMV.

I'm obviously not going to tell you "you're wrong," because you saw what you saw, but I will say to everyone else that this is NOT the norm. I've been at the BC for 8+ days every summer for the past 4-5 summers and they always check room keys and give wristbands. Every single day.

Our experience at SAB has been we are given a wrist band after checking our KTTW card, and the band is needed to even get a towel. It was enforced during our stays there.

Also, just because other DVC resorts may allow pool hopping does not mean that they don't check the pool guests. I have stayed countless times at BWV and have several times been checked myself for KTTW card at the main pool area. Especially since they realize it is a possibility that Swan/Dolphin guests (and vice veresa), or even just park guests, may try to enter to enjoy the amenities.

All quiet pools are excluded at resorts where PH is not available. That technically includes BCV, BC & YC pools. YC pools are excluded even though not on the specific list on the member website.

My experience at SAB has been that they checked for the room key everyday we were there and each day a different color wrist band was used. I never saw any sort of oversight at the BCV pool though; of course it was never very busy over there.

I was at the BC twice last year. In early Feb they were checking key cards but not giving out wristbands. There was only a couple of people checking. It was too cold to swim unless like us you were from the frigid north anyhow :) When we were there in Oct they were using wristbands. Security was tight and they had every entrance covered.

We've stayed at the BCV several times and they almost always check for keys. One time I noticed someone didn't have a key and while they didn't give them a towel or wrist band they did let them swim. I didn't really understand the point of checking if they weren't going to deny access.

It may have just been a matter of time until a lifeguard "caught" the person.

Last July, I watched a BCV lifeguard (she was stationed at the stand directly across from the poolside gift shop, where the pool games are played) call out to guy (about college-age) in the water and tell him he needed to get out of the pool because he didn't have a wristband. He asked, "Oh, so I need to leave?" She replied that he did, immediately. While he got out of the water, she radioed to someone & the next thing I know, there was a cm right there. She said she was going to follow the guy until he left the pool area.

I can't remember if I said anything to the guard afterward, but I remember I felt like applauding her.

We spent 4 days at YC at Thanksgiving and used SAB each and every day....both DD and I were asked to show room keys before we were given wrist bands and towels. We got a different colored band for each day....my DD made a game of collecting them for each day! I wouldn't risk being asked to leave so I wouldn't try pool hopping there and I am a long time DVC member....my DD would just "die" if we were asked to leave! :lmao:
