Hi all,

I know that pool hopping is not allowed at WDW. It just so happens that our next door neighbors are going to be staying at the "All Star Movie Resort" at the same time that we're camping at FW. We'd like to have them over as our guests for a day, or we might like to join them at their resort as their guests for a day. Either case would involve the pool.

Any issues with this?

We never had a problem with this before. We had a group of friends staying at the Poly last year and and we spent a day swimming there. They came over to the Fort one night to swim and go to the campfire sing along.

I agree, we have had guests over all the time, and have never run into any problems.

Technically, not allowed, FTW guests swim at FTW, ASM guests swim at ASM. I know, before the flames start, both are technically 'Disney' guests. As long as noone checks you should be fine.

The pool is for registered guests of the resort. Not for guests of guests.

That said the issue comes up with the theme pools in deluxe resorts. You're unlikely to have an problems.

If you don't make a big deal about it, nobody else will either. Just walk in and act like you belong there and nobody will bother you.

Not as far as I am concerned,,:thumbsup2

When we first started doing Disney Resorts MANY years ago,,theu actually encouraged pool hopping, :woohoothen after a while,,they just stopped say'n anything about it.
Now I've heard they discourage pool hopping..

I DON'T THINK SO !!

The easy way to do it, is add them as guests to your reservation. You can have up to 10 people registered to your site. It makes no difference that they are also registered at All-Star Movies. They may charge you $2.00 each for the extra adults, but then they may not.

I didn't know that! Thanks for the info Carol.

Hi all,

Well, not that I don't appreciate the input, but after seeing several of the responses I decided to go straight to Disney.

First called FW. They said No Pool Hopping, but were unsure about adding them to my reservation, so sent me to reservations.

Talked to Bernice in reservations. She checked. Said it's allowed as long as their with me.

Called FW back and talked to their management (Augustine). I called back because I wanted FW to know what reservations told me. She said No Pool hopping and basically said reservations is wrong. Hummmmm.

Called reservations back and talked to Marty. Marty put me on hold for a long time. She talked to guest services and came back and said "no pool hopping".

So those of you that responded that Disney isn't going to allow this, DING DING, you are correct.

So I just asked if I can add them to my site list (there's only 3 of us, and adding my 2 neighbors is way under the limit) and they said, "no problem".

So that's what I'll do at the time of check in. Just add my neighbors names to my reservation at the time of check in. If they get challenged at the pool they can give their names, it will be checked against our reservation and they will be allowed to stay and use the pool.

Man what a mess.....

Is it just me, or does everyone get annoyed calling reservations and having to answer 47 questions to talk to a reservation agent? I'm toast!

:upsidedow

Glad it worked out for you.

Carol gets the prize, she told you to just add them to your reservation!

That being said..like Frank, I also remember the days when pool hopping was not only allowed, but Disney encouraged it, in their advertising. Probably early to mid '90's. Those days are long gone. We did have friends visit us at the WL and we did ask management if they would be able to swim, and they had NO issues with it.
I might add that the couple using the lounge chairs next to us were locals who lived near by and regulary swam in the Disney resort pools. Go figure..they weren't even campers!

Getting a straight answer on the phone from WDW is like TSM being a walk on Christmas week..... ain't. gonna. happen. :dance3:

Part of the problem is that people on the reservation line aren't actually AT WDW and unless your question is directly related to booking a vacation, they often have a LOT of misinformation. Then again you can call the Fort directly 6 times in a row and also get 6 different answers.

And in the end, even if you happen to stumble upon someone that really DOES know the rules... Disney is notorious for not enforcing them, or even making sure that all CMs know what they are.

That's why, more often than not, you can get more accurate WDW here than you can from "the horse's mouth" pirate:

what, you don't like playing 47 questions to identify yourself? it's worse as a DVC member, it's the usual 47 plus your social security number, e-mail & member number/date you joined. even if you tell them it's a general question NOT related to your upcoming ressie.

I know that pool hopping is supposedly a no-no, but I have always done it at times. Usually at WL or Poly. I don't make a day of it, just an hour or so. No one has ever questioned me (or us). Just act like you belong there. There have been plenty of times in the past when the other resorts guests have used the beach at FW (when it was open), or swam in the Fort's pool because it was open 24 hours when their pool was not open.

We pretty much only stay at the Fort or at the Values, we are local and often stay for 1 night or 2. We've NEVER been asked for proof that we are staying there and have had guests many times. I guess it may be different at the "fancy" pools.
