Ok, it's almost time for our WDW family trip, which also means it's time for my mom/daughter fun day, wherein DH takes the obys off for fun and dd and I get to do girl-stuff without boys gagging.

THis time, dd wants "to swim." That's all she's asking for. I guess she will have maxed out on princesses earlier in week (CRT and all that stuff). Well, we will have stayed at BCV, BWV already by this time in the vacation, and will actually be staying at SSR at the time of the "date" (yes, it's a whirlwind 3-resort 2 week vacation. We're certifiable, what can I say). That's 3 pools right there! ANd we will have hit both water parks already. So I thought, well, I could pool-hop her somewhere fun, maybe somewhere that also has a nice "something else" (lunch? Near something else to do?) For those of you who pool-hop -- which is a better hop (IF it's allowed -- yes I do know it's not a given, I'll be very considerate and even call ahead -- please don't flame me!):

Grand Floridian?
Poly?
Cor. Springs?

Or somewhere else? I suppose we could hop to VWL... she enjoyed that pool last trip. Or I could take her over to OKW -- we'd have the WDW DVC circuit complete! Too many choices for my fish-of-a-daughter.

THANKS!

Kind of odd when you are hitting that many pools already but I know what you mean, a request is request. You could start at Contemporary, sit out a while and when you are dry take the momorail to POLY (which is very nice), dry out a little and monorail to GF which is also very good. Check as you go for some lunch, they all have selections. Or start it all at VWL and then boat to contemp. We have done that whole loop before on a day off. Have fun.

If you want a nice pool, skip the Contemporary. It's ok, not themed like the rest. Of course, there are the 2 pools at the "new" Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside. ( I will always think of them as Dixie Landings and Port Orleans. ) Both are nicer than the Contemporary.
I read that the Volcano Pool at the Poly is nice. However, coming from one extremely jealous person, it seems that you will have already hit the best pools before your swim date occurs. Everyone raves about SAB and Luna Park. If you have already been to the water parks, just spend the day at SSR, its supposed to be very nice and uncrowded until the resort is more fully completed.

If thats not an option, there is always Wet 'n Wild on International Drive. Have fun.

The poly pool would be a nice place to go. Have lunch, ride the monorail, take a swim. It has a great slide, it's zero entry and having the MK on the other side of the lake doesn't hurt the atmosphere.

Have fun.

After SAB, any other resort pool will be a letdown. So I recommend Typhoon Lagoon. It's a very impressive place, and our grandkids had a fantastic time there. And it's nice and close to SSR, too.

or... The spa at SSR has a series of "My First" treatments, such as My First Manicure, My First Pedicure, etc. That would be a cool mother/daughter thing. My wife, daugther and granddaughters are planning to spend a day at the spa this November.

I know it's not what she asked for. But it's different, and I think there can be hot tubs involved, so that's something!

Don't forget, SSR is a boat ride / bus / walk away from DTD. There might be something fun there for the the two of you - Disney Quest, Rainforest Cafe, etc.

I second the vote to skip the Contemporary. We were actually kind of disappointed in the pool there(spoiled by SAB, I guess). How about going to the Poly for a while, then ride the monorail over to Grand Floridian for a while, then maybe you could even change clothes and finish with the "Tea" that they do there(the exact name of it escapes me at the moment.

That's what I'd do, since it seems like you'll have hit quite a few of the pools by then!

Jen
(who's hoping one day she can do the same with her daughter--6 1/2 mos pregnant with her at the moment!)

Just a suggestion from Uncleromulus that if you do pool hop to the Poly and drive over, you may find yourself with but a 3-hour parking pass.
WE drove over to the Poly one time to swim and thought we might want to hang around longer than the 3-hours. When I mentioned that to the guard at the entrance gate, he just laughed at me and gave me the ususal 3 hour pass.

I'd hop over to the sea serpent pool at POFQ. That was a really cute themed pool. Have heard CSR pool is a favorite among the kids too;)

My kids loved the pool at the Poly. You can do the O'Hana breakfast (make it a late sitting- the pool slide doesn't turn on 'till 10) . You can also rent the water mice and cruise by the MK!!

we PH to this resort's pool twice during June and had lunch there, too. It was our favorite place to stay prior to joining the DVC. The water temperature was perfect. The water at SAB (we were at BCV) was kind of luke warm. The slide was perfect for our 3 year old and our little one had the kiddie pool to himself. The 6 year old loved the water pouring down on him from the various locations and the pool or area was not crowded.

I say CSR for the pool. I haven't stayed here yet but toured it and that pool/slide looks like it is fun. Playground looks interesting too for the kids. You also get to enjoy the grounds and may want to eat lunch at the Maya Grill. Something completely different from all the others.

My wife and i recently returned from a trip to WDW. We're DVC members, so we no we can pool hop at any DVC resort except BCV (subject to limits), but pools at other resorts have signs posted that "pool use is reserved for guests of the (resort name here)". Does that mean that we shouldn't use that pool?

gopherit,

My niece and I do the girl thing every year while DH, DS and Dnephew go fishing or take the boats out.

We start off at the Spa at the GF (they have the my first maincure, pedicure and facial). They treat you like a princess and we have a blast. Then we spend time near the pool. It is a great pool with a slide. In the late faternoon, we have the afternoon tea in the Garden View room.

It is a great girls day!

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

it is my understanding as a fellow DVC Member subject to certain restricted periods that are generally announced prior to the period such as around the 4th of July, Easter periods, Thanksgiving, etc. DVC Members staying at a DVC resort on points ARE allowed to legally pool hop to all of the current pools except for SAB and the AK resort. It is suggested that you call ahead to verify that the particular resort pool that you wish to visit is available for pool hopping by DVC members that day. Sometimes certain pools may just be too overrun with their present guests to allow for visitors. We have not ever had this happen to us but it is slight possibility.
