Are POP and AOA going to be "sister" resorts like the All Stars? Will guests be able to use either pools like All Stars?

No one knows at this time, but,IMHO it seems highly, highly likely because of the "connection" between the Resorts created by Generation Gap Bridge(certain to be renamed I would think).:)

I also think they will share Buses, but ONLY during the non-peak late AM/early PM hours.:)

Only time will tell-and it won't be long now!:)

I am just SO gald that Guests of POP will no longer have to look across Hourglass Lake at abandoned buildings!:)

I cannot wait to walk all the way across the bridge. I'm excited. :yay:

We're staying at Pop in April, and at AoA in August. :thumbsup2

I hope not b/c the AoA pool might end up w/ an overcrowded nightmare from the Pop guests. It would be frustrating if I was staying at AoA & my family couldn't comfortably use the pool b/c too many Pop guests don't want to use their own.

I know none of us knows yet but I think they won't share pools or buses. The main pool at AoA is supposed to be immense and well themed. It will be very popular and I don't think they want an overcrowding problem. There are just too many people for the 2 resorts to share buses. It wouldn't work. We shall see.

Assuming AOA has the same boring amenities as POP I would assume that few people would make the trek for the exact same thing.

Because of the access between the 2 Resorts provided by the Generation Gap Bridge,in order to limit AoA Pools(there will be 3)to AoA Guests,Disney would have to implement a wristband system similar to Storm-a-Long Bay.

Personally,I just don't see them doing that. The 3 Pools at POP are really nice also and I really think that most Guests at either Resort are simply going to walk to the Pool closest to their room for the most part.:)

The newest pictures show a fence with a gate around the Finding Nemo pool. I'm not sure if that means that access will be controlled, but it seems to point in that direction.

Well, anything is possible at this point, but the fence could just be a "construction safety fence" since The Big Blue already has water in it.:)

If Disney were to treat The Big Blue as "off-limits" to POP Guests,I would think that POP Guests would then expect the Hippy Dippy,Bowling Pin and Computer Pools to be "off-limits" to AoA Guests and thus require fences/wristbands at the POP Pools.:)

Again,I really think that most Guests will just use the most convenient Pool to their room, especially after the "newness" of AoA wears off.:)

Either way,we should know SOON!:)

These are exciting times to be WDW GEEKS with New Fantasyland and Art of Animation Resort both being built before us.:)

This maybe to keep guests from other resorts out, not necessarily pop guest. I honestly don't think hoards of parents will be trekking over to AOA to use the pool. Most people are tired at the end of the day and stay at their own resort.

Pop has great pools - all 3 of them. I think that AoA guests might want to use the Pop pools also.

This concept of pool sharing works at the All Stars and POR/POFQ. I really don't see an issue at AoA/Pop.

As a PP said, that fence is looking like a permanent fence. It is decorated. I called to ask about using AOA amenities while staying at POP and the CM seemed surprised- she assumed they would be sister resorts but there are no notes in the system that they are. All the other sister resorts are very clear on the matter.

ETA-
She actually put me on hold to ask her manager. It was clarified to her that all other sister resort pairs share themes and these two don't. She said that the bridge appears to be a fluke and that we really shouldn't expect to use pools or mugs.

Thanks for the info!:)

IF Disney does decide to not label the 2 resorts Sister Resorts, that will really be surprising since Pop Century-The Classic Years and Pop Century-The Legendary Years(which "is" Art of Animation Resort) were definitely going to be Sister Resorts and with Generation Gap Bridge not having been demolished by Disney, the fact that they don't share the same theme,to me,wouldn't seem to "disqualify" them from being Sister Resorts.:)

Also,The Big Blue is a nice Pool, but it isn't Storm-a-Long Bay!:)I just don't see a huge need for closing it to POP Guests-I just don't think the demand will be that high.:)

If they do turnout to not be Sister Resorts,it will be interesting to see if POP Guests "demand" that the Hippy Dippy,Bowling Pin and Computer Pools be fenced in with KTTW card readers at the Gates,a wristband system be implemented, etc.:)

I just think it could be big headache for Disney.:)

Generation Gap Bridge would be very problematic in "enforcement".:)

It will be very interesting to see what finally hapens.

Thanks again for the great info!:)

A friend of mine has a reservation at AoA in October. She asked me today if I had heard anything about the Generation Gap Bridge being open between AoA & POP. Her brother's family is considering a trip to Disney at the same time and would like to stay at POP. Has anyone heard or seen what the status of the bridge will be or is? Thanks.

don't think so - since lots of us are waiting for it to open - think it would be big news!

I am taking reports from Pop CM's with a grain of salt. They don't even seem to realize that WiFi is available at Pop right now. And we all knew that fridges were coming to Pop before they did! lol! I think we're just going to have to wait and see.

Since AoA is still under construction Generation Gap Bridge,AKA "The Bridge To Nowhere";):) is "walled off" at the end leading to AoA.POP Guests can walk all the way to the "wall".:)

It is not known when that "wall" will come down(Mr. Mouse-TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!;):)).

It could be May 31 when the first section is opened or at anytime between then and when the last section is opened on December 31.:)

Only time will tell.:)

I think they'll want POP guests to meander over to AoA so they can see the icons, amenities, and possibly want to book a future trip there. If you can't see the place, then there's much less excitement and they have an audience already there, staying at Pop. I doubt they'll have an issue with pool hopping- I know I would prefer to take the kids to swim closer to our resort room. We've used the Kidani pool when staying at Jambo as it's available to us, but it's really not worth the long hike.

I was wondering whether or not Pop and AoA would be sister resorts with pool and amenities sharing when I came across this thread in a search........any news on that?
