I thought it would be nice if we could post where some of the pool home/condo communities are. Mostly how was the drive truly to WDW. Distance vs. traffic. I know we are doing research again, and I'm seeing lots of developments say only 10 miles to Disney. However, they are up 192 by Walmart which seems like it would be a 30 minute drive from traffic.

We've stayed in Hampton Lakes in Davenport. This was a good solid 12-15 miles I'd say. However, the drive to the parks never took more than 20 minutes. We found the traffic to be light coming from that direction.

We've also rented at Emerald Island. Well, this of course is very close. So, it was only about a 5 min. drive into the parking lots.

Anyone else-- I see lots of homes in Crescent Lakes, Rolling Hills, and Indian Point. Wondering where these are in relation to the park as well as others.

The closest area is behind the old Splendid China, Emerald Island, Oak Island, Sunset Lakes, Lindfields, Formossa Gardens, Rolling Hills, Indian Creek and Widsor Palms. These are all nice resorts with the exeption (in my opinion) of Indian Creek which now has a huge road going through the middle of it I have stayed at all of these.

The ones down Poinciana (up by Walmart) Chatham Park, Windward Cay, Lake Berkley, Cumbrian Lakes etc etc (these are the ones I have stayed in) are all nice and not that far from Disney if you use the Osceola Parkway (about 10 minutes)

The resorts on the 27 can be a way away depending upon how far down they are, I have stayed at Southern Dunes which is MILES away but I was aware of this when I rented even though they said it was 10 minutes away :-(( It took 20 minutes drive to get to the 192!!

I have booked a place at Tuscan Ridge off www.daystarvillas.com for my November stay, I know that its not exactly close but haveing done all the Disney stuff so often I am not that bothered.

Thank you for all the info. This is great. I am really trying to decide between the final few places. Prices are all about the same, amenities about the same. Now it comes down to location.

Does anyone know where the following are: Four Corners, Crescent Lakes, Ashley Manor, and Calabray Parc.

I believe Calabray was on the way to Davenport as I really remember passing it often.

thanks so much for the great map - and it even shows where the Walmarts are. I am printing it right now to take along on the trip in 13 DAYS !!!!!

The road in the Beltway 429 which runs form the turnpike in the north to the I-4 in the south and will affect some of the sub divisions on the formosa gardens area .This map shows where it is going

you will need to zoom in on it to read the names clearly .To get the orientation the road at the right hand edge that runs top to bottom is actually the 192 .

High Grove at the intersection of 27 and 192 also have pool homes. Easy to get to WDW property by way of Sherberth Road. We've stayed there three times and the location is wonderful and the homes are excellent.
