Hi everybody,

I am new to this. So i hope you can help.

I am renting a villa in Formosa Gardens in mid July. The owner has recommended I have the pool heating on.

I have been to Florida 4 times before, but not in the Summer months.

Do I need pool heating

Thanx

I wouldn't have thought it was required in July - unless you're one of those (are there are some) who like their swimming pool water like a bath ;)

When I stayed in a villa the pool heater had been left on by the maid who cleaned the house just before we got there. I got my cossie on and plunged right in... and lept right back out again! It was scorching! If you have an outdoor pool with an adjustable heater then have it on quite low - the sun will do all the heating for you. If you have an indoor pool then you might need the heating on.

Heat escapes from pools really quickly (we have one in out garden at home and the heater is on constantly coz of the British weather! :cold: ) but pool covers and sunshine in Florida will mean you shouldn't need it on. :sunny:

We were in Orlando just over a week ago & we didnt have it on. It was a bit chilly to get in at first, but was great after just a few seconds. My wife however only went in the pool 3 times in 2 weeks as for her it was too cold. My answer to your question is NO, my wifes is probably maybe.
Not sure if that helps.

I would say no you shouldn't need it.
The only problem you may have is that sometimes it can depend on the villa you are staying at, we have had some where the heating has been on and it hasn't felt particularly warm and others where it has been perfect.

Most villa owners we have rented off would recommend you do not need the heating in July, do you know if the pool is South Facing? (ie the pool area gets the sun all day long).

Hello,

Just got back from a 2wk stay in Formosa Gardens, we had the pool heated for the first week only ($150) mainly because have 3 kids and the youngest is 7mts - but for the 2nd week we left it and it was ok....I would wait until you get there, then make your decision...

Any more question on Formosa Gardens just ask..

Nat

Thanx for the info

It is a south facing pool.

Maybe have it put on for arrival and then switch off if too hot

i would say you wouldn't need pool heating,We have rented villas for several years now and have never needed pool heating in June July or August.

We had the pool heated when we were at Emerald Island in April - and the water actually had steam coming off it was so hot. It was like a warm bath. We could have easily done without it. In July we never bothered with pool heating - I think when it is SO hot in the summer, it's nicer to cool down in the pool, rather than have the water very hot.
:flower:

If the pool gets too hot in the summer it can quickly go green which makes it unusable .Just check with the owner that any pool heat money paid can be refunded if you switch it off part way through your stay a lot won't as a lot of the cost comes in actually heating the pool up in the first place.
I would say it shouldn't be needed but each to their own .
