Hi!:wave2:
Just wondering if anyone can advise me about the need for pool heating for the first 2 weeks of April? Will we really need it?

I always suggest my guests have the pool heat on up until April-after that its their choice-some do some don't .If the owner has a pool cover that will help keep the heat built up during the day in over night and you may be alright without heat -if they haven't you may not.You could always have it turned on after you get there but be aware that sometimes its more because the man co has to make a special trip to turn it on .On the other hand if you pay for it up front and then decide its not needed very few owners will refund your money. The bottom line is how much extra will it cost to have it heated and are you willing to pay for it to be so at a time of year you may not need it? probably not a lot of help I'm afraid but it depends how hardy you are maybe

As a 'Hardy Scot' I would expect you'd be happy as long as the ice wasn't too thick!!

On a more serious note we were there April this year and had the pool heated, - I think it's that bit more fun not having to 'get used to it' if it happens to be a bit chilly. I know it adds to the overall cost but for us now it's not even a question we just do it.

You might want to balance pool usage versus the costs. Our 3 live in the pool so it makes it even more worthwhile.

Hope this helps.

We've been twice in April (haven't been any other month!) and stayed in villas each time. On our first trip the pool was beautifully warm - but we hadn't paid for pool heating. As it was our first trip, we naively thought the warmth of the sun was heating it up. On our return, we found out that the previous guests had paid for pool heating - and no-one had switched it off before our arrival!

On our second trip - we didn't pay for heating, and found the water was definitely on the chilly side. However, we spent very little time in the pool. So little in fact, that it seemed a waste to have paid for a villa with its own pool. On our next trip we are staying in a townhouse with a communal pool at Emerald Island resort - which has turned out to be much cheaper than a villa with private pool.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...If you will definitely use the pool as lot, then it would be worth paying for the heating. You are paying for the pool, so it would be a shame to not be able to fully enjoy it.
