We're renting a house from 4/22-4/29 - Do you think I need to pay for the heated pool? I'm thinking that we won't have to but I thought I'd see what everyone thinks. Thanks.

It really depends on the weather. What you can do is ask the owner if you can decide once you get there and have it turned on if needed. I have done this with our guests quite a bit.

I would say you will probably need it. May is iffy, but April is usually a pretty sure bet. Of course you can wait til you get there to decide, but it does take about a day to get the pool up to temperature. If you pay for it before you go it is up to temperature when you arrive.

I think it is an individual thing. I like the water very warm, I personally do not think our kids mind they dip in our pool the day the cover comes off in may and we live in New England. The temp is usually around 60o when they venture in. Crazy yes we are all that.

If the pool temp does not suit you have the owner/manager turn it on. It is not that cold that time of year so it will not take very long to heat. Just remember the owner/manager.

Thanks - I think I'll talk to the owner about waiting until we get down there and see how the weather is. We are from NE as well and I know the kids won't mind if the water is cool but I sure will.

The pools are heated. We do water parks and pools when we went feb,March and April. The only time I notice the cold is when you get out of the water so have towels and cover ups at the ready:thumbsup2

I would say pre-order it for 100% sure! We turn our pool heat on still in May!! The pool heaters work via a heat exchanger...so once you arrive, even if you decide to turn it on...and your MC or owner comes out that very same day and turns it on, it's going to take a day to get warm. Now...if it's Sat afternoon or Sunday when you decide it's too cold and want it turned on....they may not come out until the next day...which means you will go several days without it being turned on, for instance.

We have had several guests who didn't opt for pool heat in October or other cooler months, almost universally they all commented afterwards they had chosen to have the pool heated.

The one other poster's comments about the "pools being heated" refers to the resort or water parks pools, not private vacation homes, where pool heat is almost always optional.

In April, I can't recommend this to you strongly enough!! :thumbsup2

You're almost certain to get there and find it too cold for your liking, then wish you had pre-ordered it so it's nice and warm when you arrived! The very first thing our kids do when we arrive in Florida is jump in the pool, it's one of the highlights of their trip, sad to say, but they almost enjoy it as much as WDW! LOL

Hi

We rented a villa last year around this time and didnt have the heat on and it was fine. I think it's a personal thing but we chose not to pre book and see how it felt when we got there then decided against it.
