Do you think that it is necessary to have the pool heated in a villa at the end of April beginning of May?

I have never been at this time of year and am just trying to price up for next year.

Thanks :goodvibes

I have been at the beginning of May and found it war, We stayed on site tho so not in a villa. Hopefully someone will be along soon to be more helpful!

We went in 08 for 3 weeks, for the last week of April and first two weeks of May. It was roasting the whole time! Our unheated pool (at a hotel, not a villa) was great! It was still warm in the evenings, due to being baked by the sun all day.
Obviously this is open to change, so pay extra if you're really stressing it, but I would say you'll be fine :thumbsup2

The villa that I am looking at has a south facing pool so if it's nice and toasty while we are there then it should get the sun from morning till sun down. I think we will be ok! That'll save be a nice £300! :cool1:

We hired a villa at the start of June a few years ago - we paid to have the pool heated but they forgot to do it! The water was FREEZING!!!!!! I made myself get in because we were getting married and I wanted to try burn a few calories each morning, but i would come out shaking after half an hour!!!

if it were me, i'd get the heating...
even in the height of summer heat, i need the pool to be heated...
otherwise it's way too cold for me...

can you change your mind when you're already there?
that is, if you find it to be too cold, can you then change your mind and ask for heating?

We have been at various times of the year, including April and May, and have always opted to have the pool heating. Whilst it will be warm it sometimes does take a long time to warm up the water, and a lot of the time all the heat will be lost once the sun goes down.
If the pool comes with a cover I would strongly recommend putting it on each night to keep the heat in once it is up to temperature.
The other thing to consider is that if it has a jacuzzi it is always better if it is warm - especially as you are more likely to just be sitting there (preferably with a glass of wine ;)) rather than moving around like you would in a pool.

Disney pools are always heated apparently. I have never stayed in a villa, but usually find that although late April is pretty hot during the day, it is still not comfortable lounging about it the water. It isn't freezing, but if I am not being active in the water I am cold. I would want the option of heating for the pool.

Yes I think so, the kids will be peeved if it's not like bath water! :rotfl:

:rolleyes1 err Budweiser anyone?

I think this time of year is borderline, some would get pool heating turned on and others would not.
South facing is a good advantage as you get sunshine all day, and if there is a pool cover that keeps the heat in.

Pools vary also, we had heating on one year and to be honest it barely made any difference.

Can you not check with the owner? You could wait till you get there and possibly arrange for Management Company to switch on if you find it's not hot enough in the water.

:flower3:

The downside with waiting until you get there is that it can sometimes take a couple of days for the temperature to get up to where you want it. At least if it is done before you get there it is ready and waiting :goodvibes

it was 94 here yesterday and its going to be 93 today. trust me your pool is going to get heated!!!!!!!

No idea on the pool heat Gem but just wanted to say did you know that Easter is end of April next year ???
Just thought it may be of interest as easter crowds can be horrendous !!

Hi

We are in Florida at the moment.

Due to a 'technical' hitch, our pool heating was not turned on until the end of our first day - it has made a massive difference.

We did use the pool without the heating, but you had to grit your teeth when first taking the plunge... now its like sinking into a warm bath.

The pool is south facing so gets the heat of the sun all day, but for me I would opt for the heating everytime at this time of year... and it has been exceptionally hot for the last couple of days !
