Off topic but I need to ask this. I have heard of some places like the YMCA doing a pool egg hunt but I have never been to one.

We are having my youngest b-day party at a hotel indoor pool and since it is so close to easter I thought a pool egg hunt would be fun. However I have no idea how they work. Do you put waterproof treats in the eggs? Or do you just put in empty eggs and then let the kids pick prizes after? Do you have sinking eggs at all? What do the kids use to hold the eggs in the pool?

The kids at the party will be ages 4 through 7.

Thanks!

My daughter went to an indoor pool birthday party a couple years ago and they did an egg hunt in the pool as an activity because the party date was a couple weeks before Easter. They used the plastic Easter eggs and marked them with various symbols or numbers that corresponded to different prizes that they could redeem after the hunt (candy, party favor type toys, stickers, etc.) and those were the kids' take home party favors. Each kid got a small Easter basket to put their treats in. I believe they didn't put anything in the eggs so that the eggs would float and be easy to retrieve, also they did not want a bunch of little stuff sinking to the bottom of the pool which could be problematic cleaning up/getting out after the party is over. It was a fun activity for the kids but you will definitely need a lot of eggs so that everyone gets a chance to grab several eggs, especially if some kids aren't great swimmers and stay at the shallow side of the pool. Have fun!

THANK YOU!!! :thumbsup2

I have a plan! We went to a purim carnival a few weeks ago for a B-day party and they had a table set up with prizes and how many tickets each prize was. We have a separate conference room so I can set up a prize table in there. I will use a sharpie to mark the eggs with different numbers rather than having tickets. Then turn in the eggs for prizes. I am a pack rat when it comes to prizes. I buy bulk bags at the thrift store of non-used mcdonalds toys. I give them to my kids school when it starts to overflow. I shouldn't have to spend money on party favors then!!! My husband will be thrilled to hear that. Now just to find baskets or something for the kids to take home their goodies!

I have TONS of eggs because we have done an egg hunt at our house two years in a row.

Sounds like a fun plan! I forgot to add that the kids used small mesh type bags to retrieve the eggs in the pool. I hope my post didn't made it sound like the kids were using Easter baskets to retrieve the eggs in the pool, lol!
